Expect more thrills at 2026 Toyota GR PH Cup season finale next week

MANILA: While it may be the season-ender, the final race weekend of the 2026 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup is expected to bring more excitement for both drivers and fans.

Slated for October 22-24 at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga, the event’s fourth race weekend of the year—organized by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP)—will award double points to drivers, pushing them to their limits as they vie for podium finishes.

Race leaders

As of the previous race weekend, the following racers lead their respective categories:

Aside from the sprint and endurance races, the event will offer attendees other fun activities, including a remote-control track and racing simulator rigs. Enthusiasts can also visit the sponsors’ booths to check out accessories and modifications, as well as the latest official Gazoo Racing merchandise.

TMP will also announce “something new” for the 2027 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup season. To recall, Zigwheels Philippines is anticipating the inclusion of the GR86 in the races.

“We hope the developments we are planning for the 2027 season will attract new motorsports fans,” TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Elijah Marcial was quoted as saying.

“It has always been our mantra at TGR Philippines to continue pushing the limits for better, not just for the activities we are already doing, but also when looking for new ways to bring the thrill closer to Filipino motorsport fans,” she added.

Furthermore, the season finale will mark the culmination of TMP’s “rolling laboratory” initiative, which began last July when the company introduced low-carbon biofuels for the One-Make Races (OMR) featuring the Vios and Tamaraw.

Since then, TMP has been testing a 20 percent bioethanol blend (E20) in the Vios and a 5% coco-biodiesel blend (B5) in the Tamaraw.

Further, the leading automotive distributor in the country noted that the initiative's findings will be shared with relevant stakeholders “to support informed and productive applications moving forward.”
