Porsche Cayenne Interior & Features
The Porsche Cayenne features a cabin that is arguably more practical than what you can get from the Macan, its smaller cousin, because it obviously has more space for five passengers. The SUV variants boast top-notch spaciousness all-around the cabin. Meanwhile, the Coupe variants have a lower headroom for second row passengers because of its sloping roof architecture. That said, if you are over 6ft, it might be best to get the SUV model. Regardless of the body type, you get a generous trunk space even with the rear seats up.
The GTS trims feature 8-way, electric GTS sports seats with integrated headrests for a much more performance-oriented riding experience. In contrast, the base and Black Edition trims offer 14-way, electric comfort seats, which deliver top-notch cushioning and are more ideal for daily city rides.
Moreover, Porsche really went all out with the Cayenne’s interior technology. Upfront, all passengers can enjoy a Porsche Communication Management display, which is very feature-packed and is linked to a 14-speaker BOSE Surround Sound system. You also have the option to provide your co-pilot with a 10.9-inch front passenger display (optional) for a more personalized experience. Meanwhile, drivers are given a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster and a multifunctional steering wheel with shift paddles as a standard.
Cayenne Exterior
In terms of dimensions, all variants of the Porsche Cayenne are 2,194 mm in width (with mirrors) and 2,895 mm in wheelbase. The SUV lineup measures 4,930 mm in length and has a height range of 1,674 mm to 1,685 mm. Meanwhile, the Coupe lineup has a length range of 4,930 mm to 4,932 mm and a height range of 1,648 mm to 1,664 mm.
The Porsche Cayenne’s design gives off a mix of boldness and sophistication whenever it passes by. It has an assertive-looking front end illuminated by matrix LED headlights. The Black Edition variants feature the tinted HD version of the headlights, while higher-performance trims get the regular HD counterpart. Its chunky bumper adds more ruggedness to its front end.
It has a classy, muscular side profile, accentuated by beautiful curves. The Turbo GT (petrol-powered) variant flaunts 22-inch GT design wheels for a more exclusive sporty silhouette, while the Black Edition and GTS trims get 21-inch RS Spyder design wheels. Meanwhile, the base trims get the standard 20-inch Cayenne design wheels.
Trailing behind this luxury car at night would definitely be enjoyable thanks to its hypermodern-looking LED taillights with a lightstrip in the middle. GTS trims get the tinted version of the taillights for an additional touch of sportiness. Its back end resembles the Panamera’s.
Porsche Cayenne Ride & Handling
The Porsche Cayenne comes with an adaptive air suspension with a Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). Thanks to this suspension setup, you and your passengers can enjoy a very graceful and comfortable riding experience inside this luxury car. For its size, it delivers precise handling on sharp turns or corners even at high speeds–similar to its sports car cousins. Its suspension setup does a really great job concealing its weight.
Cayenne Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Porsche Cayenne model line offers four powertrain options: two petrol-powered and two plug-in hybrid powertrains. First, the base Coupe and base SUV variants along with their Black Edition trims are powered by a 3L turbocharged V6 engine that produces a maximum power output of 353 PS and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. These variants have a top speed of 248 kmph.
Second, higher-performance petrol-powered variants, namely the S, GTS, and Turbo GT variants are powered by a 4L twin-turbo V8 engine that produces a power range of 474 PS to 659 PS and a torque range of 600 Nm to 850 Nm. These variants have a top speed range of 273 kmph to 305 kmph.
Third, the E-Hybrid and S E-Hybrid variants along with their Black Edition trims run on a hybrid powertrain, which combines a 3L turbocharged V6 engine with an electric motor. Their hybrid powertrain generates a combined power range of 470 PS to 519 PS and a combined torque range of 650 Nm to 750 Nm. These variants have a top speed range of 254 kmph to 263 kmph.
Fourth, the Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe and SUV variants run on a higher-performance hybrid powertrain, which combines a 4L twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor. This hybrid powertrain produces a combined power of 739 PS and a combined torque of 950 Nm.These variants have a top speed of 295 kmph. The Turbo GT is the fastest of its kind, boasting an acceleration time (0 to 100 kmph) of just 3.3 seconds.
All variants run on an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. Regardless of the powertrain, all variants of the Porsche Cayenne are quick off the line. Despite its bulky frame, it is smooth and very responsive. You’ll definitely be able to overtake slower vehicles on free-flowing highways with this luxury car. If you are aiming for more efficiency, then the hybrid variants definitely have the upper hand. These variants are more ideal for daily city driving, even in mixed conditions.
Porsche Cayenne Braking & Safety
The Cayenne is equipped with Porsche’s front and rear ParkAssist with a Surround View, an active speed limit assist, warn and brake assist including pedestrian protection, as well as a driver awareness detection and an alarm system with interior surveillance. Other variants like the Black Edition trims also get a lane change assist. The Turbo GT variant features Porsche’s Ceramic Composite brakes with yellow brake calipers, while the rest get the standard brake system with brake calipers either in red or black.
Cayenne Verdict
In my opinion, the Porsche Cayenne is arguably one of the well-rounded models in its segment. There is very little to complain about this luxury SUV/Coupe. All things considered, it is very versatile and just does a great job making each daily family trip the best one yet.
