2018 Mitsubishi Xpander - Know the new crossover inside-out

Good news for all prospective crossover buyers, Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation has finally introduced the all-new Xpander. Not only the general public but auto critics too were eagerly waiting for Mitsubishi's new crossover to land and expand the range of the current-favourite cross segment.

Though the new Xpander has been unveiled by the brand and is visible on the OEM site too, some part of it is still under the veil. The 2018 Xpander has not yet arrived at the dealerships; however, dealers are taking pre-bookings for the new Mitsubishi. As for the official Mitsubishi site, the car is displayed under the ‘New Car’ badge, and information about is available only after the user fills up a lengthy form. Also, prospective buyers can register themselves online and be amongst the first few individuals to take home the new Xpander.

Mitsubishi’s new crossover is not yet available for a test drive or mere inspection at the dealerships, here is a detailed glimpse of the car on paper. Know it, compare it, and then make a call.

1. The all-new Xpander is the production version of the much-talked-about XM Concept displayed by the brand at the 2016 Philippines International Motor Show.

2. A seven-seater setup, Mitsubishi Xpander hails from the B-segment crossover arena. Thus, making it perfect competitor to go against the likes of Honda BR-V, Mazda CX-3 Ford Ecosport, Nissan Juke, all-new Suzuki Vitara, and soon to launch Toyota Rush.

3. All-new Mitsubishi Xpander will be available in 4 trims in the Philippines market - GLX Manual Transmission, GLX Plus Automatic Transmission, GLX Automatic TRansmission, GLS AT and GLS Sport AT.

4. On the dimension front, the 2018 Xpander displays stunning number reading - 4475 mm length-wise, 1750 mm width-wise, and 1700 mm height. Along with this, it has got a reasonably good ground clearance of 200 mm.

5. On the exterior front, Mitsubishi has decorated the 2018 Xpander with differentiating features like signature Dynamic Shield grille, high-mounted DRL, faux skid plate apron, sharp character lines, and rear L-shaped pillar mounted tail light.

6. Xpander cabin features a spacious cabin dimension enough for seating seven adults and put in a generous amount of luggage.

7. Its amenity sheet reads a wraparound dashboard with unique offerings based on the model selected. The high-spec model features an upright infotainment system with below resting air-con vents. Taking care of passengers comfort are present ceiling mounted air conditioning system.

8. Mitsubishi Xpander is the first crossover in the segment to offer fold-flat seating arrangement in the third row.

9. Mitsubishi has powered all-new Xpander with 1.5-litre DOHC 16-valve with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control System mill.

10. As for safety front, Mitsubishi Xpander top variant is equipped with Anti-Locking Braking System, Hill Start Assist, Active Stability Control, Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution, Electronic Brake Distribution, and Active Stability Control.

11. The 2018 Xpander top-variants, the GLS and GLS Sport will be available in five shades - Diamond Black Mica, Red Metallic, Sterling Silver Metallic, and Titanium Gray Metallic. As for the GLX Plus trim buyers will have four options - Diamond Black Mica, Titanium Gray Metallic, Quartz White Pearl, and Sterling Silver Metallic. The standard variant, the GLX MT colour option is limited three ooptions -  Sterling Silver Metallic, Titanium Grey Metallic, and Diamond Black Mica.

12. With a price range of  Php 885,000 - 1,060,000, the new Xpander will sure give its competitor a tough fight on every front.
