All the car launches at MIAS 2023

The Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) has once again proven that it is indeed the biggest auto show in the country after a successful run on April 13 to 16.

With the theme “Shaping Mobility,” this year’s MIAS showcased how the automotive industry works together to boost mobility across the Philippines.

One of the highlights of MIAS 2023 is the series of car launches from some of the top brands in the country today. Let’s take a look at all the cars that were unveiled at the four-day event.

Ford Territory

Arguably the most awaited launch at MIAS 2023, the next-generation Ford Territory features the brand’s new “Progressive Energy in Strength” design philosophy.

The 2023 Ford Territory is available in two variants: the Titanium priced at P1.335 million and the Titanium X priced at P1.599 million.

The five-seater SUV has longer wheelbase and higher ground clearance compared to the previous-generation model.

The 2023 Ford Territory is powered by an EcoBoost 1.5-liter engine that produces 160ps and 248Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission with wet-type dual-clutch engagement system.

Subaru Evoltis

The 2023 Subaru Evoltis is a great choice for growing families as it offers ample space for up to seven people, as well as advanced safety technologies.

Subaru's EyeSight technology has just gotten better with the inclusion of a wide-angle monocular camera and innovative stereo cameras. With these upgrades, the 2023 Subaru Evoltis is safer for all road users as it has better visibility at traffic intersections.

The 2023 Subaru Evoltis also comes with Level 2 ADAS semi-automated driving technology, adding an additional level of safety on the road. This technology includes autonomous emergency steering and lane departure prevention.

The exterior of 2023 Subaru Evoltis has been redesigned, featuring a striking new grille, an updated front bumper, and new front and rear lights. The 2023 Subaru Evoltis is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

Subaru Outback

The 2023 Subaru Outback features new alloy wheels and a range of cabin convenience upgrades. The 2023 Subaru Outback comes with Type C USB charging ports, auto-restore X-MODE, a multi-information display for the driver, auto-restore UI for the infotainment system, and updates to the steering wheel controls.

The 2023 Subaru Outback is powered by a 2.5-liter Boxer engine with direct fuel injection. Just like the 2023 Subaru Evoltis, the 2023 Subaru Outback features Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and EyeSight 4.0 advanced driver assistance system with Level 2 ADAS semi-autonomous driving technology.

Subaru Forester GT Edition

The 2023 Subaru Forester GT Edition was introduced for customers looking for a sportier SUV that reflects their personality and aesthetic without compromising comfort and safety.

The GT package gives the Forester an even sportier look, from the front and rear lip extensions, bumper garnishes, side skirts, and roof spoiler.

On the inside, the 2023 Subaru Forester GT Edition is equipped with diamond-quilted designer leather seats inspired by European grand tourers. The side of the seats have the GT Edition logo etched on them, adding to their exclusivity.

Peugeot e-2008

Peugeot's electrification strategy of adding new models and technology to its range, with the goal of having an electric version of every model in 2023, began to take shape with the introduction of the Peugeot e-2008 at MIAS 2023.

The Peugeot e-2008 is powered by a 50kWh battery and a 100kW electric motor. The Peugeot e-2008 has an estimated range of up to 344km. With support for 100kW fast charging, the Peugeot e-2008 can be charged from zero to 80% in less than 30 minutes.

GAC Emkoo

The 2023 GAC Emkoo is surely a head-turner, with its muscular, edgy looks. Its fastback shape is embellished with LED lights at the front and rear.

The 2023 GAC Emkoo is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine that produces 177hp and 270Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed wet Dual Clutch Transmission.

The 2023 GAC Emkoo has one of the lowest fuel consumption ratings among engines with the same displacement level, with a mileage of 16.1km/L.

The 2023 GAC Emkoo will be available in two variants: the GE priced at P1.413 million and the GL priced at P1.553 million.

Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid

The Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid is the brand’s entry-level electrified model. This mild hybrid vehicle is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine paired to a 48V belt-starter generator. The Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid gets a nine-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid features fuel-saving technologies such as regenerative braking, auto start/stop, and torque assist.

In terms of design, the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid features the new Sunshine Galaxy grille, as well as newly designed fog lights and alloy wheels.

Chery Auto Philippines also unveiled the hybrid variant of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro at MIAS 2023.

Just like the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine mated to a 48V belt-starter generator and nine-speed CVT.

There were minor differences in the exterior design versus its ICE-powered version. Among the exterior design upgrades on the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid are a new set of LED headlights, a slight revision on the Sunshine Galaxy grille, and a new set of alloy wheels.

Jetour X70

Chinese brand Jetour made its official debut in the country at MIAS 2023, and one of its initial offerings is the Jetour X70, a seven-seater SUV that comes in four variants: Journey priced at P1.099 million, Tour priced at P1.259 million, Sport priced at P1.299 million, and Plus priced at P1.499 million.

Among the notable features of the Jetour X70 are a large front grille, 18- or 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels (depending on the variant), roof rails, panoramic sunroof, electronic rear tailgate, 10.25-inch infotainment display, 10.25-inch instrument cluster, leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, leather seats, and electronic parking brake.

Jetour X70 Plus

The Jetour X70 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 156hp and 230Nm of torque. The Jetour X70 Plus comes with a six-speed wet DCT, while the other variants get an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Jetour Ice Cream EV

Jetour Auto Philippines also unveiled the cute yet boxy Jetour Ice Cream EV at MIAS 2023.

The Jetour Ice Cream EV is now one of the most affordable electric vehicle models in the local market, as it retails for only P699,000.

The Jetour Ice Cream EV is powered by a 20kW permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 26hp and 85Nm of torque. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 9.6kWh to 13.9kWh. When fully charged, the Jetour Ice Cream EV can reach 120km to 170km, depending on the battery pack. The Jetour Ice Cream EV has a top speed of 100kph.

The Jetour Ice Cream EV is available in four exterior colors, all named after popular ice cream flavors: Matcha, Strawberry, Vanilla, and Blueberry.

Jetour Dashing

Completing the initial Jetour lineup in the country is the Jetour Dashing, a five-seater crossover that features an LED lighting system, a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch Sport wheels, a 12.8-inch infotainment system, a leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, and leather seats.

The Jetour Dashing is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 153hp and 230Nm of torque.

The Jetour Dashing is priced at P1.329 million.

MG ZS Nite Edition

MG Philippines introduced the 2023 MG ZS Nite Edition, a model refresh that puts an aggressive and sporty spin on a fan favorite that is even more feature-packed.

The 2023 MG ZS Nite Edition is designed with blacked-out Stardust Grille, trim, and alloy wheels. The dark accents add to the vehicle's already appealing sporty look and give it an edgier appearance that looks terrific day or night.

Tech features were also added to the 2023 MG ZS Nite Edition, including a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera, six speakers, and a power liftgate.

The 2023 MG ZS Nite Edition retails for P1,018,888.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the second model in Hyundai's all-electric lineup brand, Ioniq. It fully utilizes the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) architecture, providing 400V to 800V ultra-fast charging capabilities for a 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes and a roomy interior.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has an estimated range of 545km when fully charged. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 5.1 seconds and has a top speed of 185kph.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has the same design DNA as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is currently available in the local market, however, the Ioniq 6 features a “sporty and sleek” look, while the Ioniq 5 focused more on providing a bold character and an accommodating space.

Recently, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 was awarded as the 2023 World Car of the Year.

According to Hyundai Motor Philippines, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be officially launched in the country around mid-2023 for around P4 million.

Haval H6

The Haval H6, brought in by Chinese auto manufacturer Great Wall Motor (GWM), promises a new mobility experience through new energy and technology.

The Haval H6, GWM’s flagship model in the country, is built on a cutting-edge platform that GWM independently developed from a global perspective. This platform has earned excellent safety ratings and perfectly fits with new energy powertrains.

The Haval H6 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine mated to a 130kW Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. It produces a combined output of 240hp and 530Nm of torque. This hybrid system enables smoother power delivery, reduced carbon emissions, and 35% to 50% fuel savings.

GWM also presented the Haval Jolion at MIAS 2023.

The Haval Jolion is based on the same platform as the Haval H6. It is powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated internal combustion engine paired to a 115kW Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, allowing it to deliver a combined output of 186hp and 375Nm of torque.

The Haval Jolion also boasts cutting-edge technologies such as a 360-degree Around View Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities.

GWM Cannon

Another vehicle showcased by GWM at MIAS 2023 is the GWM Cannon pickup truck.

The GWM Cannon features a bold styling with a large chrome grille, automatic halogen headlamps, daytime running lamps, front and rear fog lamps, a hydraulic-assisted tailgate, and 17-inch wheels.

The GWM Cannon is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine delivers 161hp and 400Nm of torque.

Geely GX3 Pro

Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) gave the public a preview of the Geely GX3 Pro crossover at MIAS 2023.

What makes the Geely GX3 Pro different from the crossovers that are currently available in the local market is its rounded front end instead of the usual aggressive exterior in the segment.

The Geely GX3 Pro is powered by a 1.5-liter engine that produces 102hp and 140Nm of torque. It will be offered in five-speed manual and automatic transmission variants. With an affordable price of around P700,000 to P850,000, this upcoming model will surely be another hit, just like  the current Geely lineup in the country.

With all these car launches, the local automotive market is now filled with more options, and the arrival of more electric vehicles in the Philippines shows that the country is now ready for the future of mobility.
