BMW has launched the iX2 eDrive20 M Sport all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) for the Philippine market, and it has several characteristics many electric vehicle (EV) buyers might be looking for.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the price of the BMW iX2 eDrive 20 M Sport in the Philippines?

In the Philippines, the BMW iX2 eDrive 20 M Sport is priced at P4.29 million.
  • What are the color options of the Philippine-spec BMW iX2 eDrive 20 M Sport?

The Philippine-spec BMW iX2 eDrive 20 M Sport’s color options are Brooklyn Grey, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, and Portimao Blue.
  • For starters, the vehicle uses a potent electric powertrain, which can deliver a maximum of 204 horsepower and 250 Newton-meters of torque. It also has a decent estimated range of 439-478 kilometers from a single charge.

Besides its peppy performance, the BMW SUV also gets a striking exterior design courtesy of the German marque’s M Sport appearance package. Plus, it sports a muscular-looking hood, a sporty sloping roofline, and an aggressively styled rear.

Inside, the EV SUV comes standard with a 10.7-inch infotainment system paired with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster. It is also kitted out with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assist systems, among others.

On paper, the iX2 sounds good for the money. However, buyers may get to choose a total of four color options for the model. The aforementioned are Brooklyn Grey, Portinamo Blue, Alpine White, and Black Sapphire.

Multiple choices are good, especially when it comes to car exterior colors, but the question now is, which one should you get? Let’s answer that question by going over all four BMW iX2 exterior color options.

    Brooklyn Grey

Brooklyn Grey is the kind of color option buyers may want to lean toward if what they’re going for is a more neutral-looking ride. It isn’t flashy, nor is it too dull or boring. Plus, it may also help the vehicle blend better in traffic, considering the popularity of neutral-colored cars in the Philippine market.

Many car experienced car owners also swear by the grey hue’s ability to hide dirt. It may not be able to hide big splashes of mud, but dust and watermarks are not too obvious on a grey-colored vehicle.

One downside of a grey tone, however, is it might hide some of the vehicle’s sculpted details. For instance, the deep character lines on the lower front bumper can appear flatter. Even the muscular-looking hood of the vehicle may not appear as dynamic as it would be in other colors.

Nevertheless, Brooklyn Grey can highlight the black-colored pieces of the vehicle, particularly its window frames and on its front fascia. The blue-tinged decorative bits on the BMW EV model, specifically on its wheel caps and LED headlamp clusters, will likewise become more visible thanks to the aforementioned hue.

    Portimao Blue

Portimao Blue is one of the more adventurous-looking color options of the BMW iX2, well, at least for the Philippine-spec version. To note, the model may also come in Fire Red, but the said color is not available locally.

Regardless, the kind of blue that’s available to the Philippine-spec iX2 is both refreshing and striking. It is an intense kind of blue hue, which can evoke both the impactful energy and the relaxing nature of the sea.

Blue in the automotive industry, in general, is likewise associated with “clean energy.” This makes the said color option highly appropriate for the BMW SUV since it uses an emissions-free all-electric powertrain.

In connection to the SUV’s design, it also has the effect of making its black bits appear darker, which is, of course, quite pleasing to the eye. The chrome highlights on the vehicle’s LED headlamp clusters and around its kidney grille are made more visible as well.

    Alpine White

The Alpine White color is the lightest in the iX2’s lineup of exterior paint options.

Appearance-wise, it provides a clean and elegant look to the vehicle while serving to highlight its black and silver exterior parts.

Like grey, any white hue for a car also makes it feel neutral. Similar to grey, it isn’t attention-grabbing or loud. As such, it can help the otherwise sharply-style EV SUV blend into traffic.

Alpine White, however, also comes with its charms. As mentioned above, it provides the ride with a “pure” and unblemished look, which helps highlight its other design characteristics.

Do note, though, that white-colored vehicles can be hard to maintain for newbie owners. With the said color, grime and dirt are easily visible, so one will have to make an effort to wash the vehicle immediately after driving through unpaved (and sometimes muddy roads) in the provinces.

Furthermore, white isn’t too great at hiding minor scratches, especially if one inadvertently managed to trade paint with another vehicle via a fender bender. It is also a bit sensitive to car waxing mishaps.

    Black Sapphire

For prospective adopters of the iX2 who want to make the EV model a mean but stealthy machine, they should lean more towards the Black Sapphire color option.

The said black hue is the darkest out of the four, and it makes the vehicle appear sporty and muscular. Sure, it virtually hides all of the iX2’s black exterior parts, but the SUV’s rakish silhouette is made more apparent.

The only downside to the darker hue is it might make the vehicle less visible in low-light driving situations. Thankfully, the BMW gets plenty of LED exterior lighting fixtures, so the aforementioned is a negligible issue.

Maintaining a black-hued car, however, is another story. Unlike white and grey, its surface can make watermarks, grime, and other types of dirt more visible.

    Pricing

In the Philippine market, the BMW iX2 eDrive20 M Sport is priced at P4.29 million. Each purchase of the said model includes a five-year BMW factory warranty and a free wallbox charger.
