Crossover looker: Suzuki XL7
When the all-new Suzuki XL7 was launched here in March of last year, Suzuki Philippines positioned the crossover MPV as combining a “dynamic interior” and “exterior aesthetic” with a seven-seat capacity.
We take a closer look at the Suzuki XL7 is all about.
Robust exterior
The protection moulding and bold stance of the all-new XL7 make way for its robust and confident SUV-like design — highlighted through the rear and front bumpers, with black protection mouldings, silver accent, and an under guard shape. The new front fenders with fender garnish similar to that of the Vitara further show off the SUV elements of this Suzuki.
Thanks to its new bonnet and high-positioned large front nose, a masculine and bold front face has been developed. The horizontal accent, which is located on the front grille and continuously flows to the DRL, looks like a katana sword.
Roof rails are also present in the all-new XL7 to improve flexible utility. The roof rails make way for other loading possibilities due to its maximum roof load capacity of 50kg.
The XL7 is equipped with larger tires and exceptionally designed polished alloy wheels to generate a bold impression.
LED reflector headlamps have been adopted to produce the appealing look of the all-new XL7. The low and high beam lamps, daytime running lamps (DRLs), and position lamps are all LED. The rear combination lamps also have a unique three-dimensional design with LED stop lamps and tail lamps.
Fuel efficiency and performance
The all-new XL7 is equipped with a 1.5-liter gas engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that brings fuel efficiency along with high torque and power, within small dimensions, thereby making room for an expansive interior.
Extensive measures keep levels of noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) low.. Such measures involve the use of better noise insulation and absorption materials throughout the SUV as well as the high rigidity of the body.
The HEARTECT platform prevents excessive vibrations and noise while maintaining excellent braking performance.
Spacious interior
A crisp, sporty appeal of the XL7 is lent by the design of the steering wheel, door trims, and satin chrome accents on the center console.
An expansive cabin with third-row seats provides more functionality and comfort compared to other SUVs. Moreover, the seats of the all-new XL7 can be configured to accommodate luggage as well as passengers.
To achieve stabilization of the loaded luggage on top of the folded seats, the XL7 comes with steel plates in the second- and third-row seatbacks. The third-row seats can also be folded nearly flat.
The split luggage board also enables flexible luggage configurations for storing small and large items. Its utility and expansive luggage space allows you to conveniently place your large trolleys and luggage bags for family trips.
Comfort and convenience are further enhanced through the presence of other features such as the sliding second-row seat, 50:50 split third-row seats, driver seat height adjustment, keyless push start system, front automatic air-conditioner, ventilated cup holders, and a tilt-adjustable D-shaped steering wheel, among others.
Connectivity
The all-new XL7 is also fitted with exceptional connectivity features which take advantage of a 10-inch infotainment system screen. Mobile devices can be paired easily.
Safety
The exterior design of the XL7 focuses more on the Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept of Suzuki, which leads to a structure that effectively disperses and absorbs energy in the event of a collision.
The XL7 is also equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), rearview camera and reverse parking sensors for detecting obstacles when parking the vehicle, and a pedestrian injury-mitigating body for reducing leg and head injuries in case of a collision with a pedestrian.
Other safety features include the electronic stability program (ESP) for detection of wheel slippage in slippery roads, hill hold control to help prevent the XL7 from rolling backwards in slopes, an immobilizer for avoidance of thefts, and a security alarm to ensure safety in deserted parking lots.
