Difference: Honda Civic & Honda Civic Type R
Honda is a well-recognised automaker around the globe, this Japanese car manufacturer has been serving the auto needs of Filipinos for quite a long time and has some iconic cars in its offerings. One such car that is well received in the Philippines is Honda Civic. Hailing from the sedan segment, Civic is synonymous with luxury, comfort, status and style, of course.
As for some latest update on Civic, the company later in the previous year introduced the updated version of the car and a few days back some more revisions were announced in one of the trims (1.8 E). Plus, in the soon to commence Manila International Auto Show, Honda has confirmed the introduction of Civic Type R. Hence proving that Civic is in pace with the changing needs and trends and Honda is keeping up with the demands of the customers.
But with Civic Type R prepping to enter into the picture, we find many confused and misguided as to how it differs from the ongoing variants. Some say it’s the look, while some say the mill is different and others settle in for a few added amenities. But no one’s 100% sure, therefore clearing the confusing we bring you what the Civic Type R beholds.
Difference Between Civic Type R and Civic
For starters, we’ll like inform that Civic Type R made its world debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The car perfectly justifies the theme and feel of this year’s MIAS, i.e., ‘Beyond Performance,' hinting to be energized with immense power, style, and performance.
Talking about appearance the Type R as expected carries a more aggressive, power dripping exterior and looks nothing like its classy counterpart. Some of its highlighting aspects are the masculine bumper, large air dams, sharp headlights, remolded side skirts, centrally mounted exhaust pipe, massive rear wing and lastly enhancing it all the red-black borderline. Even the wheels and the tire wrapping it is different and a step ahead then fitted in Civic, here we have 20-inch wheels are covered with 245/30R20 tires.
Keeping in line with the rugged exterior, the cabin is all up for giving a sporty feel. Supporting its robust aura are present features like heavy red-black spread on seats and instruments, bucket seats and carbon fiber trim.
However, it’s the power mill where the major portion of the difference lies. The Type R variant is fueled by a 2.0-liter i-VTEC 4-CYL DOHC turbo mill, unlike the 1.8-litre engine that is found in the ongoing model. The bigger mill pours out larger figures reading 320 PS at 6500 rpm and 400 Nm at 2500-4500 rpm. Showing that it's built for the power loving, control liking individuals it is tuned with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
That’s all for now on the would be MIAS 2017 debutant Honda Civic Type R. Catch this bad boy live at the auto show starting from 30th March at World Trade Center, Metro Manila.
