    MIAS 2023

So, today, let’s look back at a few electrified vehicles shown at MIAS 2023. These vehicles have different versions of electric power, but they all have the common goal of fuel-free and zero-emissions motoring, which in turn should create a cleaner planet for us all.

    Foton Tornado EV

Per the truckmaker, the Foton Tornado EV is the first electric truck to be sold in the Philippines.

Driving range on a full charge is 208 kilometers (using the global WLTP standards) while charging may be done via AC or DC charger (2-4 hours on DC and 12 hours on AC from 20% to 100% charge). The Foton Tornado EV has a payload of 6,000 kilograms with a load mass of 3,600 kilograms and a curb weight of 2,400 kilograms.

    Peugeot E-2008

Peugeot Philippines previewed the kind of EV we Filipinos can expect once the French carmaker proceeds with its plan to offer only electrified vehicles.

    Peugeot E-2008 MIAS 2023

The E-2008 can travel up to an estimated range of up to 214 miles (344km) and is powered by a 50kWh battery and 100kW electric motor. With support for 100kW quick charging, a charge from zero to 80 percent may be finished in under 30 minutes, as per specifications in its home market.

Chery Tiggo 8 Pro e+ Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

An electric motor eases the fuel consumption and lowers the emissions of the gas engine that partly powers the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV

The Tiggo 8 PRO e+ can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds thanks to its powerful combined 320 horsepower and 545 Nm of torque from its gasoline engine and electric motor. It has a driving range of up to 95 kilometers when operated only in electric mode, making it perfect for daily city travel. Charging only requires three hours.

    Jetour Ice Cream EV

Also a brand under the Chery umbrella, Jetour is entering the local market with a two-door electric hatchback that’s small both in size and price.

    Jetour Ice Cream EV

The Jetour Ice Cream spans 2.9 meters long and 1.4 meters wide — yet it manages to seat four occupants. According to the manufacturer, the EV can travel up to 170 kilometers on a single charge and will take over eight hours to fully charge from empty to full. Sticker price is slated to come at P699,000.

    Nissan Leaf, Kicks E-Power

Take your electrified mobility pick between the Leaf, which uses full-electric power, or the Kicks E-Power, which is powered by both electricity and gasoline.

    Nissan Leaf Nissan Kicks

Based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standards, the 2023 Nissan Leaf's 40 kWh lithium-ion battery provides a range of up to 311 kilometers on a full charge. As for the 2023 Nissan Kicks, it boasts E-Power, and this comprises a 100% electric motor-driven system whose electric motor completely drives the wheels. The e-motor gets its charge from a 2.13kW lithium-ion battery pack, which in turn, sources its juice from a 1.2-liter ICE acting as a generator.
