Honda Cars PH Shares Tips in Making Every Drive Eco-Friendly

In celebration of the Philippine Environment Month this June, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) shared five ways on how to make every drive environmentally friendly.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How can motorists make every drive eco-friendly according to HCPI?

To make every drive eco-friendly, HCPI recommends combining small trips, maintaining the vehicle regularly, driving smoothly and cautiously, following recommended tire pressure, and choosing a vehicle with less emissions.
  • Which Honda models produce less emissions?

The Honda models that produce less emissions are Honda Brio 1.2 V CVT, Honda City 1.5 RS CVT, Honda City Hatchback 1.5 RS CVT, Honda Civic RS Turbo CVT, Honda HR-V S CVT, Honda BR-V 1.5 V CVT, and Honda CR-V SX Diesel 9AT AWD.
  • Combine small trips

Stay away from congested roads during rush hour because they are time- and fuel-intensive. Plan short trips and errands and combine them. You may also consider carpooling or public transportation.

    Regularly maintain your car

Regular maintenance is important to ensure that the vehicle's efficiency and performance are consistent.

If the engine is in good condition, the vehicle operates at its best, using less fuel and emitting fewer emissions. Perform regular filter, fluid, and oil changes.

Honda recommends only two periodic maintenance visits annually, every six months or 10,000 kilometers, whichever comes first, at any authorized Honda Cars dealerships or service centers.

    Drive smoothly and cautiously

Abrupt acceleration should be avoided to ensure efficient driving. Aggressive driving is also dangerous; it is not worth the risk or the extra fuel consumed to save a few minutes on the road.

The Honda Sensing driver-assist technologies help improve convenience and safety while boosting fuel economy.

The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) aids in maintaining a safe following distance and driving within the speed limit. Meanwhile, the Low-Speed Follow (LSF) feature automatically slows down a vehicle to a complete stop then resumes its set pace when traffic conditions allow.

These features help prevent sudden braking, resulting in smoother acceleration and avoiding aggressive actions which adversely affect fuel economy.

    Follow recommended tire pressure

Up to 3% of fuel efficiency can be lost due to underinflated tires. On the other hand, overinflated tires can cause a 1% decline in fuel efficiency.

If the recommended pressures are not applied, handling and braking distances are affected as well, usually in a negative way. The recommended tire pressure for your car is usually indicated in the owner's manual or on the driver's door post.

Choose a vehicle with less emissions

A fuel-efficient car is the best option for those trying to reduce their fuel usage and expenses. Less emissions are produced by hybrids and models with lean-burn engines. Less emissions translate into less air pollution, better air quality, and a healthier environment.

The following Honda models produce less emissions, as proven by tests conducted in collaboration with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP):
