Honda Mobilio: Top 5 alternatives
Honda Mobilio was launched in the Philippines in 2015 and received an overwhelming response from the audience. It was one of the handsome-looking MPVs of its time. However, in 2017 Honda rolled out a facelift of the Mobilio, which was way more aesthetically pleasing than its predecessor. Priced in the range of Php 874,000 to Php 1.06 million, the Mobilio is a bang for the buck. But just like other cars, this too faces tough competition from its rivals. Here are the top 5 alternatives for Honda Mobilio.
Suzuki Ertiga
The Ertiga made to this list because of its reliability. Yes, it has got outdated looks, but it still does what it’s meant to do without a fuss. It comes with a trustworthy 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces a max power of 95 hp and generates 130 Nm of peak torque. There’s an option of picking up a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
The ride quality is pretty good, and so is the interior space. However, Suzuki hasn’t provided any major upgrade to the Ertiga for quite some time now, and this makes its interior a bit dull with its beige treatment. With a cost of around Php 699,000 to Php 965,000, the Suzuki Ertiga is a competitively priced 7-seater which offers a good fuel efficiency and reliable performance.
Toyota Avanza
Toyota Avanza is a toned-down model of the Innova. It’s a 7-seater MPV that comes in two engine options - a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with 95 horsepower on tap along with 121 Nm of torque, and the other option is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder unit that produces 103 horsepower and 136 Nm of torque. Both the engine options come with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The Avanza offers a whole lot of interior space to accommodate 7 people easily. The seats are also very comfortable. The overall ambience of the cabin feels premium, but the quality of materials used could have been a tad bit better. When it comes to the external appearance, the Avanza is capable to carry itself with its head held high. Its design depicts sophistication, boldness, and aggressiveness.
The Avanza comes in 6 color options - White, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Beige Metallic, Black Metallic and Nebula Blue Metallic - and is priced in the range of Php 721,000 to Php 1.06 million.
Mitsubishi Xpander
This is the latest 7-seater offering from Mitsubishi. The Xpander has recently been launched in the Philippines with a starting price of Php 885,000 which goes all the way up to Php 1.06 million. With an innovative design, the Xpander stands apart from its rivals. It features a very modern, stylish, and dynamic exterior, which you would either love or hate. Mitsubishi calls Xpander’s huge chrome-laden front grille as the 'Dynamic Shield'. Clearly, it won’t be appreciated by everyone. The interior of the Xpander is very spacious, thanks to the generous dimensions of the vehicle. However, the quality of materials used has been kept to the basics.
The Xpander is available in only a single engine option - a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder MIVEC petrol engine with a power output of 105 hp at 6,000 revs and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 revs. The engine comes with both manual and automatic transmission. You can either pick the 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.
Toyota Rush
Launched in May 2018 in the Philippines, the Toyota Rush did take the segment by storm, mostly because of the way it looks. Its front end features large LED headlights with DRLs which along with the massive grille and huge bumper gives the Rush a very aggressive look. Overall, the footprint of the Rush is really intimidating.
Powering the Rush is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine that has been tuned to produce a max power of 102 hp and puts out a peak torque of 134 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. You can also go for the 4-speed automatic option. The price range of the Rush is Php 948,000 to Php 1.07 million.
Honda BR-V
Honda’s own BR-V is also a good alternative to the Mobilio. Its price range starts from Php 1.03 million and goes to Php 1.15 million, which is a bit dearer. Both the BR-V and Mobilio looks more or less the same. However, the BR-V gets a wide chrome slat as the front grille, and its brake lights at the rear are wider and are connected.
The BR-V comes with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine with 118 hp and 145 Nm on tap with a CVT unit. The interior is done in all-black theme and offers seating for seven. Although, the last row passengers wouldn’t be that cheerful than the other occupants in the car.
These five cars are the best alternative to Honda Mobilio. However, before coming down to any decision we would recommend you to take a test drive and then decide.
