The first day of the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS ) 2024 was a success, setting a precedent for the four-day event after flocks of car enthusiasts visited the annual auto expo.

Day 1 roundup
The first day of MIAS is usually jam-packed with plenty of car launches, brand introductions, and presentations from various companies.
Omoda and Jaecoo finally reveal their offerings which consist of the Omoda 5, E5 electric car, Jaecoo J7, and J8. The marque also highlighted its manufacturing capabilities, noting it as one of the advantages of picking the Chinese brands, which are yet to announce their local dealer network.
Astara showcased offerings of the brands under its umbrella. JMC had the Vigus and the Grand Avenue while JAC presented its six-car lineup as well as its electric vehicle, the Ytterby. Peugeot, on the other hand, was with its 5008 and 3008 nameplates while GAC was with the Emkoo Hybrid.
BAIC, which is now under United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated allowed attendees to have a good look at its sport utility vehicles (SUV) and crossovers.
Jetour, on the other hand, wowed eventgoers with the handsome T2 and the electrified Dashing plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
As for Mitsubishi, the industry staple brought Triton trucks with various setups to showcase the nameplate’s versatility and capabilities.
Meanwhile, MG Philippines took the breath of EV enthusiasts with its impressive electric car lineup. The automaker also had internal combustion engine-powered models, which were nonetheless head turners.
Suzuki showcased its offerings. Under the spotlight were notable nameplates such as the Jimny three- and five-door variants, S-Presso AGS, Dzire AGS, and its mild hybrid cars the XL7 Hybrid and Ertiga Hybrid.
And while we’re on the topic of new-energy vehicles, Nissan — not to be outdone — previewed the Ariya.
Chevrolet’s presentation at MIAS 2024 spoke about tapping markets across generations in the Philippines.
Hyundai has introduced its sub-brand N and caught the attention of the enthusiasts with the display of the Elantra N and Ioniq 5 N.
Chery Auto Philippines gave the public a sneak peek of the eQ7.
Other notable occurrences included Winterpine’s event-exclusive deals, Fuso Philippines’ free shuttle service, the launch of Tuason Racing’s Gulf Oil Top Driver Challenge, AC Delco’s new brake products, and BPI’s MIAS-only offerings.
MIAS 2024 will run until Sunday, April 7, so there’s still plenty of time for the public to visit the event. It is currently being held in two venues simultaneously: The World Trade Center Manila and SMX Convention Center.
