Sedan showdown: Suzuki Ciaz vs. Mitsubishi Mirage G4
Despite the influx of brands from other countries (particularly China) Japanese car companies continue to dominate the automotive scene in the country. Among the popular brands are Suzuki and Mitsubishi which have impressive products across various categories.
Currently, there is only one available Mitsubishi sedan model in the Philippine market—the Mirage G4. As for Suzuki, their contender that comes in at almost the same price range is the classic Suzuki Ciaz.
Both models assume an almost traditional sedan look, although the Ciaz is bigger in dimensions. When it comes to body colors, the Mirage G4 has a wider selection, while the Ciaz is available in five different classic hues.
On the inside, Ciaz offers more premium comfort to its passengers as it is fitted with cozy leather-covered seats. However, the Mirage G4 preponderates when it comes to the multimedia system as it is equipped with iPod compatibility with Aux-in and USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity with mirror link feature.
Both sedans perform well on the road but the classic Ciaz gives a more power with its refined K14B VVT petrol engine that delivers a maximum output of 92hp at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 130Nm at 4,000 rpm. This is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
Although the Mirage G4 produces a lower power and torque, it should provide a smoother driving experience with its NVECS-III continuously variable transmission (CVT). It is lighter, too.
The Ciaz is engineered with Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) body structure, while the Mirage G4 is built with a Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body frame. Both technologies are developed to efficiently reduce the impact and damage to the car in case of a crash. Both vehicles use an anti-lock braking system embedded with electric brake force distribution (EBD) function.
Deciding which sedan is better is undoubtedly hard since both the Ciaz and the Mirage G4 possess their own strong points. To help you come to a conclusion, here are the specifications of the top trims of the two sedans: the Suzuki Ciaz GL AT and the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLS CVT.
