Spec showdown: Hyundai Accent vs. Nissan Sylphy

With a wide array of sedans in the market, it is definitely hard to pick one to go for since car brands have been going all out with their four-door creations. This time, we take a look at two interesting category contenders from Nissan and Hyundai this category: the Nissan Sylphy and the Hyundai Accent.

Nissan Sylphy boasts interior features such as an eight-inch touch screen display with USB, Bluetooth, and Aux connectivity. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Accent gets a 3.8-inch LCD Display Radio + radio data system (RDS) with USB and Aux connectivity.

Under the Nissan Sylphy’s hood is a fuel-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces maximum power of 131hp at 6,000 rpm and torque of up to 174Nm at 3,600 rpm. The engine is attached to a Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). Meanwhile, the Hyundai Accent is powered by a 1.6-liter CRDi VGT that delivers maximum power output of 128hp at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque of 259Nm at 1,500 to 3,000 rpm. The Accent’s engine is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission. For some, the Accent's Diesel engine may prove to be irresistible.

Meanwhile, adding to the Nissan Sylphy’s advanced features are the push-button engine start/stop system and the keyless entry system. It also uses a dual-zone automatic-type air-conditioning system which lets the driver and the front passenger set different temperatures. As for the Hyundai Accent, it is installed with a manual air-conditioning system. Both cars are equipped with power features such as windows and side mirrors.

The top trims of both sedans are equipped with supplemental restraint system (SRS) airbags for the driver and front passenger. In addition to its safety features, the Nissan Sylphy also has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA) functions, LED high-mount stop lamp, and immobilizer, which are not present in the Hyundai Accent.
