Terrain conqueror: The all-new Mazda BT-50

The latest iteration of Mazda’s renowned pickup truck combines the minimalism and dynamism of Kodo Soul of Motion Design with genuine practicality, reliability, and versatility of a sturdy new platform.

The all-new BT-50 incorporates premium car-like comfort, refinement, and style with the strength, stance, and practicality of a dedicated workhorse. It was crafted for leisure and designed to get things done, giving its owners the ability to take on any challenge.

The BT-50 is made for the ambitious, hard-working individual who desires to move ahead in life. It is designed for the discerning who seeks the most of their vehicle. It is the pickup truck that gives them the freedom to be whoever they want.

The BT-50 was derived from the Mazda B1500 B-series truck, which was introduced in Japan in 1961. Its long history as a workhorse has earned it a good reputation for durability and reliability not only in the Philippines but around the world. It has grown from a dependable cargo mover to a sleek active lifestyle vehicle ideal for business or leisure. The new BT-50 plays a significant part in Mazda’s lineup for promoting a one-of-a-kind driving experience.

The BT-50’s front end is distinctly Mazda as it features the brand’s three-dimensional signature wing supporting its sharp, sleek, and striking LED headlamps. Its contoured front bumper integrates smoothly with the front fascia, forming a seamless, graceful flow of light and shadow.

The rear combination lamps have a similar cylindrical shape as the headlamps. This shows Mazda’s inclination to a round light design theme.

The BT-50’s low rake hood and prominent crease lines that reach all the way to the side mirrors create an impression of vitality and agility. Meanwhile, its flared fender panels indicate strength and resolution. In addition, the new 18-inch two-tone wheels add a striking accent that shows power and strength.

The new BT-50 is equipped and capable of performing the demanding tasks for which it was designed. Its wide 1,530mm opening, 490mm depth, and 1,751mm length make it a flexible hauler for all shapes and sizes of cargo. A bedliner is included on all variants for enhanced surface protection for the cargo bed. The top trim also gets a functional roof rail, which allows it to carry more overhead cargo.

The interior of the new BT-50, like all Mazda models, is crafted with a human-centric design. This implies that every feature inside the cabin contributes to a more pleasant, convenient, and comfortable driving experience.

Meanwhile, the electric seat adjustments for the driver’s seat allow them to make minute movements to achieve the proper driving position. The steering wheel’s tilt and telescopic adjustments also helps improve handling and comfort on long drives.

The bottle holders in the doors have been upgraded to fit a 1.5-liter drink bottle. It is ideal for keeping passengers hydrated during long trips. Passengers can also store additional items in the secondary upper glove compartment. They can also recharge mobile devices through the USB ports inside the cabin. The vehicle also has an auto-dimming rear view mirror which takes the driver’s attention away from dealing with the rear-view glare at night.

The BT-50 is also equipped with an infrared reflecting windshield glass that reduces the amount of heat that enters the cabin. It not only lessens the discomfort on skin, but it also improves the quality of the air-conditioning system on hot days.

This new engine is designed to generate acceleration from low rpm, function smoothly, and guarantee reliability throughout its operational life, thanks to its high-pressure common rail system, heat-insulated pistons, and a double-scissors gear that cuts down engine noise.

Power is transferred to the wheels through a responsive six-speed automatic transmission. The progressive gearing guarantees that power is maintained within the appropriate rpm band in any condition.

The body and chassis of the BT-50 are designed for dynamic performance and reliable strength. The use of high-tensile steel has resulted in a body frame that is both lighter and more rigid.

The vehicle’s light steering feel makes maneuvering in town or along trails smoother than ever. The double-wishbone front and leaf spring rear suspension components instill security and provide comfort and stability on any terrain.

The BT-50 also features an electronically operated drive selector with options for 2-wheel Drive Low, 2-wheel Drive High, 4-wheel Drive Low, and 4-wheel Drive High power delivery to ensure capability in the hardest terrains. When combined with the electronic rear differential lock, the vehicle can maintain maximum contact and traction even on uneven and sloping ground.

The pickup truck’s hill descent control makes navigating downhills a breeze. Even when the driver’s foot is off the throttle or brakes, the system can ensure a stable and safe crawl.

To ensure maximum protection in every drive, the BT-50 comes with Mazda Active Safety Technology (MAST), a suite of pre-crash safety features that work together to keep every occupant safe at all times. This includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning system (LDWS), forward collision warning (FCW), and blind spot monitor (BSM).

The BT-50 is also fitted with seven airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag and front side airbags, for increased protection and reassurance in the event of a collision.

Electronic stability control (ESC), along with convenience systems such as automatic wipers and auto high beam control, diverts the driver’s attention away from the mundane concerns of each trip.
