Tough techie: The Mitsubishi Strada
The Mitsubishi Strada is a pickup truck that significantly highlights ruggedness from the inside out.
The body of the Strada is highly rigid but lightweight due to the comprehensive use of high tensile strength steel plates for enhanced occupant safety and protection.
For its exterior, the bumper, hood, and front grille almost make it appear that the the Strada is made from a solid block of steel.
Exterior features that contribute to the toughness of the Strada include the "dynamic shield" fascia and power door mirror with side turn lamps.
The new front of the Mitsubishi Strada integrates the dynamic shield for greater stability and protection of occupants and pedestrians. The lower resting position of the windscreen wipers and the more enhanced hood shape provides excellent visibility, especially when you are driving at night or in foggy conditions.
Moreover, the power door mirrors of the Strada have a folding function to maintain security and safety when parking. A side turn lamp (indicator) on the outside portion warns pedestrians, cyclists, or other drivers that you are about to turn into a corner.
This Mitsubishi pickup truck will help you stay in control no matter what the road condition is. Whether it is a rocky mountain slope, slippery road, or muddy track, the Strada can negotiate all types of terrain thanks to its Super Select 4WD-II system (for select variants).
This cutting-edge four-wheel drive system regulates the braking and power to each wheel for optimum traction and stability on any road surface.
The Super Select 4WD-II system includes a selector dial on the center console to let you change between settings. You can select the 4H for rough terrain or the 2H for normal roads. You can also switch settings at speeds up to 100kph. If you prefer off-road driving, you can also switch to either 4LLc or 4HLc settings.
The Strada also has a keyless operation system, which enables you to unlock and lock the doors with just one press of a button on the door handle.
Its engine start system, on the other hand, allows you to start and stop the engine with only one press of the engine switch so that you and your passengers can get inside the cabin and start the vehicle without the use of a key.
Toughness does not equate to discomfort. Inside, the Strada takes pride in comfort and spaciousness, making it appear as if you have entered a comfortable sedan.
The interior of the Strada is equipped with a suite of features that one does not really expect in a pickup truck such as highly comfortable seats and a suite of controls for added convenience.
On its dashboard, the well-sculpted center panel and connecting console is comparable to a powerful SUV instead of a pickup. All on-board controls can be accessed easily on the center panel for a quiet and pleasurable driving experience.
When it comes to practicality and comfort, the Strada boasts of a double-stitched and padded floor console, door trim, and center armrest. Other features that were added include vibration damping and sound insulation. The subtle lighting and high-quality finish further contribute to the cabin’s improved appearance.
Convenience is given emphasis in the Strada through the presence of USB charging ports, ample storage space for essential items, and rear smartphone trays.
Furthermore, the elegant seats provide a deeper center for optimum back support, an excellent side support, and a broader shoulder support. The Strada also includes heated front seats and an electronically adjustable driver’s seat, with leather as a seat material option.
Aside from building upon the reputation of being a tough and dependable light commercial vehicle, the Mitsubishi Strada comes with a suite of intelligent features that take occupant security and protection to a higher level.
The Strada possesses a Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body to aid in absorbing and routing energy in case of collisions.
It also includes additional safety features such as the Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) to help avoid minor collisions when parking, a Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM) that automatically slows down the vehicle in case of a possible collision with another car, and the Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) that alerts the driver for any vehicle behind before you reverse out of a driveway or parking spot.
Let's take a closer look at the specs of all the Mitsubishi Strada variants below.
