Toyota Roadtrek 2024: A Journey of Fun, Fellowship, and Innovation
Discovering the Heart of Davao with Toyota
(In the words of Jeff Reyes)
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recently hosted an unforgettable media experience —the highly-anticipated Toyota Road Trek — at the luxurious Discovery Samal.
Despite a five-hour flight delay from Manila, nothing could dampen the spirit of fun and fellowship as the TMP Marketing Team meticulously handled the situation, ensuring that everyone still received the usual Road Trek treatment even within the confines of NAIA Terminal 2.
Upon arrival in Davao, the delegation of 56 representatives — led by TMP Executive Vice President Jing Atienza, First Vice President Danny Cruz, Vice President for Marketing Services Elvin Luciano, Lexus Assistant Vice President Jade Sison-Mendoza, TMP PR Head Mixie Flavier along with the very dynamic TMP Marketing and PR team made up of Allana Rufo, Shaina Semana, Aries Alconaba were warmly welcomed by Toyota Davao President Denise Lim. This personal touch set the tone for a journey filled with excitement, camaraderie, and the latest in automotive innovation.
Elegance on the Roads of Davao
The highlight of the trip was the drive through Davao City roads in a fleet of 17 Toyota models — both hybrid and internal combustion engine-powered.
Some of the media representatives experienced the smooth and eco-friendly performance of Toyota's latest hybrids (which reinforced the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility) — while others enjoyed models that are either fitted with diesel and gasoline engines.
One of the notable destinations was the renowned Malagos Chocolate Farm. Here, participants got a firsthand look at the production of Malagos' globally acclaimed, award-winning chocolate. The hands-on chocolate-making session added a sweet touch to the adventure, allowing everyone to create their own delectable treats.
Unforgettable Night of Celebration
No Toyota Road Trek would be complete without its legendary final night party. All that took place prior to the final night of the Road Trek is considered a pre-game. This is what the Toyota RT is known for, a reputation earned from the very first event held at Boracay in 2005. The evening was a perfect blend of relaxation and revelry, with a special stage set up right in front of the Discovery Samal beachfront, accompanied by a sumptuous buffet, flowing Macallan, bottomless beer, and the exquisite Clase Azul Reposado.
The fun-filled challenges of the day culminated in an awards ceremony, where participants celebrated their victories while others simply celebrated because everyone felt like a winner. The atmosphere reached a fever pitch as the popular band, Sandwich, took to the stage and treated everyone to their hit songs, creating the usual infectious energy of the Toyota Road Trek. At this point everyone was on their feet dancing led by Atienza and another Road Trek “veteran”, Al Mendoza of BusinessMirror.
As the saying goes, whatever happens on the island stays on the island.
Kudos, TMP!
