What to expect at the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show

Wake us up when September 15 to 18 rolls around. On those dates, The Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) — a biennial auto show that’s highlighted by the gathering of the nation's largest car manufacturers and distributors — will once again take place, as proudly announced by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI).

What is PIMS 2022 all about?

Now in its 8th edition, PIMS 2022 will be a platform for CAMPI-member auto manufacturers and distributors in introducing innovations that will “provide safer, more efficient and sustainable mobility to the people.” The auto show will center on the theme, “Mobility + Humanity: Innovating for the Common Good.”

CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez reiterated the goal of PIMS 2022. “We aim to unite and drive our collective towards a united mission of building a better and more sustainable future for Filipinos through mobility. We will accomplish this by coming together to showcase the positive impact of sustainable and future-ready innovations on our day-to-day lives,” he said.

Where will PIMS 2022 be held?

From Thursday, September 15 to Sunday, September 18, the PIMS 2022 will be held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. If you’ll be driving to the venue, note that the WTC is located exactly along Pasay Extension corner 1300 Sen. Gil J. Puyat Ave. As far as we know, parking is available at the venue’s grounds and at the lot across the street.

PIMS 2022 is really big about mobility, because the event organizers will give you a way to get there even if you don’t have wheels of your own. Foton will serve as the event’s official mobility partner, and so the truck manufacturer will ferry guests via its modern jeepneys from SMX Convention Center to World Trade Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. — free of charge.

How and where to buy tickets for PIMS 2022?

Tickets for the PIMS 2022 can be purchased at the venue for P200 each, and for the first 1,000 ticket buyers every show day, the organizers are promising them a 50% discount off the entry fee. PIMS 2022 gates will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m..

What to expect from PIMS 2022?

The PIMS returns after a four-year hiatus, so it's likely the joining carmakers will be making up for lost time. CAMPI hasn’t revealed any specifics of what these brands will bring to the party, but the company did say “the motoring industry players have been constantly adjusting and adapting to the needs of consumers relative to the impacts of the pandemic.”

The industry players that will present at PIMS 2022 are: BMW, Chery, Foton, Geely, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Suzuki, and Toyota. They will be unveiling their latest and most recent innovations that will drive the future of mobility, CAMPI teased.

Similar to earlier PIMS events, the motor show will include daily presentations by the top automakers in the nation, as well as special car launches and exhibits in brand booths. Additionally, attendees and visitors to the auto show can anticipate test driving some of the most recent models from the participating carmakers.

Those experiencing mobility of various vintage can also enjoy PIMS 2022. The auto show will see aftermarket retail booths where special parts and service appointments will be offered, and several car clubs will hold car meets. Spectators can also participate in a wide variety of family activities prepared to make the 8th edition of PIMS an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Alongside these carmakers, the Bank of the Philippines Inc. (BPI) will be the exclusive auto financing partner and diamond sponsor of the motor show.

All of these are in line with CAMPI’s goal for PIMS. “Throughout the years, CAMPI has remained steadfast in its commitment to push the automotive industry forward by working with the government and the private sector alike in creating policies, programs, and other activities that not only maximize the industry’s role in the country’s economic growth and development…” CAMPI said.

Health protocols at PIMS 2022

The organizers have yet to release the health protocols that will be implemented at PIMS 2022, but as we’ve been living with COVID-19 for these past two years, we all should be practicing at the venue what’s considered as basic etiquette today: Wear your mask at all times, wash and sanitize your hands, and keep your distance from others.

Being vaccinated should also give you and those around you an extra layer of protection against the virus. No word yet, though, if being vaccinated is required to enter the PIMS 2022 venue.

Even when it’s still weeks away, PIMS 2022 already packs plenty to be excited about. Modern mobility is coming soon.
