Why Toyota Wigo should be your first small car?
The A-segment hatchback class is an evergreen market in most of the developing countries, including ours, primarily because of the uncontrolled population. Even many people who can easily afford bigger cars are settling for these small hatchbacks to get a bit of relief in traffic jams, city congestion, limited parking space, and so on. Toyota Wigo is one of the many popular compact hatchbacks that one can buy in the Philippines. It has won the title of the Best Micro Car in the Philippines (2014-15). This, along with the following reasons, is why the Wigo should be your first small car.
Easy to drive
The Wigo is a compact car with dimensions that measure (3,660 x 1,600 x 1,520) mm. This makes it a very user-friendly car, which means that it is easy to drive in today’s cities with roads overloaded with cars. Its compact size also makes it easier to maintain and look after.
Commodious and simple interior
You will be surprised by the Toyota Wigo 2018 interior because considering the compact dimensions of the car, the interior is quite commodious. With the use of smart space optimization, Toyota has been able to extract out the maximum from whatever is available. Accommodating four people with enough leg and headroom for all of them would not be an issue. The Wigo can even free up some space to accommodate a fifth person.
The Wigo price is very much on the affordable side for obvious reasons. Toyota managed to come up with this product at the current price tag by skimming out on a plethora of features. So, you get what you pay for. It is that simple. The interior is very straightforward. You get the basic features like air conditioning, comfortable seats with an accent of orange color stitches to keep things a bit interesting, infotainment system with controls mounted on the steering wheel, and so on. There is nothing extra here.
Basic safety features
Even though Toyota had to keep the cost of the Wigo in check, the Japanese did not cut costs by not including some of the very basic safety features that every car should have. The Toyota Wigo Philippines come with dual airbags (driver and passenger) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard across all the variants. While the airbags will help prevent more critical injuries on the head and face of the occupant, the ABS keeps in check your braking inputs to make sure that the wheels of the car does not lock up under hard braking and thus provides you with an advantage of steering the car even when the brakes are applied in full force.
Economical price
How good is a car if it is hardly selling? If the Toyota had priced the Wigo at a higher range, then this car might not have been on the list of the best A-segment hatchbacks available in the country. The Toyota Wigo price the Philippines starts at PHP 5,42,000 for the base model that comes with a manual gearbox.
Engine and transmission
It is true that the Toyota Wigo specs are nothing extraordinary, but again, considering the fact that it is a small affordable hatchback built for the masses, they are just fine. Powering the Toyota Wigo is a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder VVT-i engine that has been tuned to churn out a total of 66 PS of power at 6,000 revs and 89 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 revs. The power and torque figures might not be the best in the class, but Toyota must have done its homework to make sure that the engine is powerful enough to handle its responsibilities. Toyota has also given the customer the freedom to decide between the 5-speed manual gearbox and 4-speed automatic transmission.
Youthful aesthetics
The Toyota Wigo has got the looks of today’s time. The front has been designed to make the car appear livelier and sporty. The roof-mounted spoiler at the rear end is again a sporty touch. The side profile is maintained by a single character line and 14-inch alloy wheels. If we talk about the Wigo colors there are six of them - Black, Red, White, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic and Orange Metallic.
Toyota Wigo price list is as follows-
1.0 E MT - Php 542,000
1.0 G MT - Php 581,000
1.0 G AT - Php 616,000
