11th PH EV Summit: Chery Auto teases 3 NEV models

MANILA: Chery Auto Philippines has previewed its three new electrified vehicle models at the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.

Its newest hybrid model, the Tiggo 7 Pro Plug-in Hybrid, is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and dual permanent magnet synchronous motor. This powertrain combination produces a total output of 326 horsepower (hp) and 545 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Plug-in Hybrid also comes with a 19.27-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery and has a pure electric driving range of 80 kilometers (km).

Chery also unveiled two purely electric models at the event — the EQ1 hatchback and EQ7 compact sports utility vehicle (SUV).

The EQ1 is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that churns out 55 kilowatts (kW) of power and 150 Nm of torque. It has a maximum range of 281 km.

Other notable features of the Chery EQ1 are four-wheel disc brakes, power seats for driver and front passenger, fast wireless charger for mobile phone, and 10-inch infotainment screen.

The EQ7, on the other hand, delivers 155 kW of power and 285 Nm of torque. It can reach up to 512 km on a single charge.

This electric SUV comes with near field communication smart entry, smart air-conditioning system with cabin fragrance system, fast wireless charger for mobile phone, panoramic display, and advanced driver assistance systems.

“Chery’s global advocacy to promote green mobility through technological innovation in the Philippines will be realized as we officially introduce these new energy vehicles in the very near future. We are indeed excited as Chery's vehicle lineup becomes vast with various options for Filipino buyers at the same time making them ready for full electric mobility,” Chery Auto Philippines Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin stated.

In  a chance interview after the program, Dytianquin told Zigwheels Philippines that they would officially start retailing the three vehicle by first quarter next year.
