2015 Tokyo Motor Show Preview: Mazda releases sports car concept teaser
MANILA: Mazda is looking forward to showcase its concept at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show. The recently released teaser image reveals that the car is a sports car concept that looks close enough to a coupe. The company claims that the concept car is modern and holds the body design as a sports car. It will condense all of Mazda's history of sports cars into a single model, Mazda added.
Since, only teaser image is available right now, so, it seems impossible to figure out the exact details. It seems to be a long-hooded coupe that features a rakish windscreen, a profiled beltline and a decent rear end. The engine specs and interior details haven't been revealed yet.
Apart from the concept, Mazda has decided to come up with other vehicles like the KOERU concept, two-racing spec Mazda MX-5s, and a 1967 Cosmo Sport. There will be a total of 14 models that will arrive at the Tokyo auto show.
According to previous reports, Mazda has been busy developing a new rotary-powered sports coupe that is based off the platform of the Mazda 6. However, Mazda President, Masamichi Kogai stated that the company still has a dedicated engineering team that is working on improving the Wankrel rotary engine. Company will not introduce a new rotary engine to the market unless it fulfills the current emission regulations, added Kogai.
For information, the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show is scheduled between October 30 and November 8, 2015.
