2016 Audi TT Coupe Makes PH Debut
MANILA: The official distributor of Audi cars in Philippines, the PGA Cars has held the official launch of third generation Audi TT Coupe at Audi Global City in Taguig City. After debuting at 2014 Geneva Motor Show the car has now come to Philippines with all fame and class featuring more aggressive light weight, and rigid frame.
Talking about its construction, the car utilizes Audi Space Frame (ASF) which is a mix of steel and aluminium. According to Audi, this type of combination is best for handling structural stress. The car’s side sections, roof frame, hood, doors, and trunk lid are completely made of aluminium which contributes to its lightweight. The all-new TT weighs only 1335 kg which is great for acceleration and cornering.
The car is no doubt more menacing but then retains its design features from original coupe. The single frame grill is now flatter and border while the hood has contours that form a V-shaped design. The 3D-designed headlights are the striking feature where the base models get HID illumination and higher grade S-line receives LED Matrix technology. The side silhouette is distinct and kinky with new character lines. The signature fuel flap with exposed Allen bolts is still present on the right rear quarter panel. The 1 or 19 inches alloy wheels further complete its look.The rear has new taillights that highlight the horizontal lines of the car and the spoiler extends to provide more down force at speeds beginning at 120 kmh.
The snazzy theme and the class feel continues inside also where it is all about functionality, practicality and comfort. All necessary driver and infotainment function/ information are displayed on the 12.43-inch TFT screen that encompasses entire instrument cluster. It can be controlled through the buttons or the touchpad where the latter even recognises ones handwriting as well.
Under the hood of the TT, a 2.0-litre TFSI inline-four mill is fitted which supplies 230 PS at 4500-6200 rpm and 370 Nm in between 1600 and 4300 rpm. All this power is sent to front wheels through a 6-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gear box where it just takes 5.9 seconds to touch 100 kmh from standstill. The top speed which can be attained is 2250 km/h.
The other optional features available are MMI Navigation with two card readers and large flash memory, side assist via mounted radar sensors, camera based traffic recognition, active lane assist, and park assist. The pricing of it as follows, PhP 4,400,000 for Audi TT Coupe and PhP 4,900,000 for Audi TT Coupe S Line.
