2016 Geneva Motor Show: Toyota C-HR Enters the Sub-Compact Crossover Segment
Manila: The 2016 Geneva Motor Show will surely heat-up this year. An entirely new trendsetter has already made its exclusive appearance at the ongoing event. The Japanese automaker who is very well-known for its SUVs, MUVs, and sedans, has now jumped into the sub-compact crossover segment. The firm has started its journey by showcasing its first ever sub-compact crossover car, named Toyota C-HR. This is the first global appearance of this car, prior to this, the firm has showcased the concept C-HR at the Paris Motor Show, back in 2014. However, the production hasn’t changed much, as compared to the concept car.
2016 will surely going to be a great year for Toyota, as firm has already launched two new avatars, i.e. 2016 Toyota Innova and 2016 Toyota Fortuner. Now, we will be waiting to sit behind the wheels of the alleged newly introduced sub-compact crossover car. It not only looks like a sub-compact crossover, but it also features a hybrid power plant. The manufacturer has affirmed that the newly showcased hybrid car has been designed as per the demands of latest generation. It is comparatively lighter and offers an amazingly efficient performance.
Talking about the technical specifications acquired by Toyota C-HR, the firm has fitted an all new 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that churns out a maximum power of 115 hp. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is mated to six-speed manual transmission or the Toyota’s Continuously Variable Transmission to achieve better driving performance. It is also made available in Front Wheel and Four-Wheel drive versions. The firm has worked over the power output of the hybrid version, as it churns out a total power of 122 hp.
In terms of looks, Toyota engineers have taken a little guess from the Nissan Juke. It features really aggressive styling when it comes to headlamps and taillights. The DRL’s fitted in the headlamps gives a smooth touch. The boomerang shaped taillights adds vigorous looks. The stylish curves and cues given to the car clearly showcases the next generation touch.
The newly launched Toyota car will be made available with 2.0-litre petrol engine mated with CVT; no other options will be available. The Japanese automaker has made several popular cars and variants available in the Philippines market. The firm will soon start production in Japan and Turkey; and by the year 2018, it will start manufacturing in China and Thailand as well.
Since, it’s a global appearance of the Toyota C-HR, the firm has not yet confirmed anything about the pricing.
