2016 Honda Civic Spied Before its YouTube Launch
MANILA: The 2016 Honda Civic is here, parked in the middle of the street in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It seems as if something went wrong with a Honda personnel and now that someone is definitely screwed up for a long time. Forgetting a yet to be revealed model out in the open is not how it works, especially in a world filled with hungry car paparazzi. Well, if not for Honda but for us, the act scored a perfect ten as before Civic's special unveiling next week at the YouTube event, we know the car if not inside, but fully from the outside.
From the carparazzi's camera the pictures went straight to the Civic-enthusiast website CivicX.com, spoiling Honda's September 16 web reveal. Well, the gray sedan reveals the new design language adopted by Honda and also showcased the traits from the popular New York Auto Show concept. The new larger than life Civic reminds one of the current Civic, Acura and also hints towards big cars from competitors like Nissan's Maxima and Mazda3. So, in all it’s a complete amalgamation of best of the auto worlds.
First thing first, Honda Civic now spots sleeker LED headlights, a feature of upscale cars that is trickling down to lower-priced segments. Further, complementing its upscale look is the bold single lined chrome grille that houses the Honda logo in the center. On to the side, the car is studded with sharp character line that holds chrome door handles and gives the car a more edgy look. What's new is the smooth cut wheel arches that holds re-designed alloy wheels. On to the back, it’s hard to miss the C-shaped taillights that now extends to the tailgate, giving the rear end a tough sporty feel. On the roof it houses a shark-fin antenna that is followed by a sloppy rear window.
Underneath sedan's fresh look is a new global platform that will underpin every tenth-generation Civic from now on. As for its engine spec, we are aware that it will be motivated by a 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engine that will be coupled to a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Same engine is also found in Honda's Step WGN minivan, with the performance figures reading as 147 horsepower and 149 pound-feet respectively, and we expect a similar output display from the new Civic.
And at the end, two words for the person who left this heavily re-styled Honda Civic out in the open, in broad daylight, thanks (from our side) and best of luck (for your job).
