2018 Volkswagen CC Spied, Looks Aggressive and Sleeker than Before
MANILA: Looks like designers at the Volkswagen facility are busy working on a revamped version of its four-door sedan, the CC. The said car has been running down the global auto arena since 2008 but never has it turned its tires towards the Philippines shores. Anyways, let’s not lose hope and so here we are informing you about its upgraded version that was recently seen doing rounds at Volkswagen testing facility at Nurburgring. Though the entire car was wrapped in camouflaged sheets it looked highly aggressive and sleek over its previous generation model.
Starting with its looks and major noticeable changes, the 2018 VW CC front end was seen showing off Volkswagen Sport Coup Concept GTE inspired LED headlights. Also, the air intakes and grille are expected to carry a distinguishing look. Over to the sides, the windows appeared a bit petite, which indicates towards a strong dimension revision. Based on the image comparison, the all-new CC looked longer, wider and lower than before. As for the roofline, it still maintains a sloppy look that not only maintains its sleek profile but also benefits CC's aerodynamic front.
The rear end of the spied car reminded us very much of Audi's current design philosophy, especially the tail lights. One interesting debate that started after these spied images floated on the internet was whether or not 2018 VW CC will have a liftgate. Well, the black lining that runs around the rear portion hint towards something different over the conventional trunk gate. But with its Sport Coupe Concept GTE headlight inspiration, we hope to see a liftgate coming from the same source.
As for its expected engine configuration, we are hoping to see VW D-segment sedan mills powering it as well. So, the car can get anything from the lot containing TSI mills like 1.4-, 1.8- and 2.0-litre, 2.0-litre TDI and 3.6-LITRE FSI V6 mill. Also, since the all-new VW CC is said to be based on the same MQB platform that supports the recently launched Passat, there are good chances that will mirror its engine configuration.
The much awaited showcasing of the car is expected to take place in 2017 as 2018 model. So, it is advisable to keep track of all 2017 auto shows as you never know when you find one on stage in its full upscale sedan glory.
