2019 SEMA to witness the first-ever modified Toyota GR Supra
MANILA: The 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show is around the corner. And, guess what? The event will be host to the first-ever modified 2020 Toyota GR Supra. While there will be other Supras lighting the show up as well, the centre of attraction will be the two-door sports car modified by Evasive Motorsports. The news comes as no surprise considering the fact that Toyota Supra's chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada had already cited that the all-new 2020 GR Supra is built in such a way that modifying the Japanese icon won't be a task too big for the enthusiasts.
Going back in time, it all started with Toyota releasing the BRZ/86 models in the year 2012, which gave rise to a completely new market altogether of FR Sports Car parts. Hence, the 2020 Toyota GR Supra following the footsteps comes as no surprise. Toyota has started delivering the new Supra to its customers and the modifications have started as well.
Moreover, it is not only the customers who are coming up with some sleek customisation as there are fully-fledged auto tuners who have also started rolling out their products and modifications for the new Supra. While the European Auto Group can equip your Supra with a manual stick, Litchfield, on the other hand, can make your Supra produce 85 hp more than the stock power figures. If that is still not enough, Akrapovic, the Slovenien exhaust expert has already come up with a full exhaust system for the icon as well.
Coming back to the modified 2020 Toyota GR Supra that will step on the podium at the 2019 SEMA show, this particular unit belongs to Sam Du, who is the editor-in-chief of Super Street. Furthermore, it is Jonsibal, who has struck these renderings of the soon to come out modified Supra. Yes, Jonsibal is the very guy who penned the Black Manta widebody Corvette for Car Porn Racing as well. The designer has now come together with Evasive Motorsports for the Supra project.
Having a closer look at the renderings, there is a large splitter at the front for enhanced downforce. The car also gets side skirts, which further help in keeping the low profile of the Supra intact. The customisation has also resulted in the modification of the lower section of the front fenders.
The fenders are, however, still the stock units. At last, the rear end gets a revisited diffuser and a swan-neck wing. Evasive Motorsports seems to have done quite a good job on this 2020 Toyota Supra. For now, let's wait for the 2019 SEMA show to kick start before we can have a look at the first-ever modified Toyota GR Supra in the flesh.
