2020 Audi A4 lineup unveiled, gets three hybrid powertrains
MANILA: Audi and facelift are two words which don’t usually go hand in hand. However, change is inevitable and time forces one to go through a transformation. With that said, here we are today with the 2020 Audi A4 lineup. The German auto giant might have updated the lineup last year only, but the changes were so minuscule that couldn’t even be called updates. The 2020 Audi A4 lineup though, is a completely different portfolio altogether.
Reminiscent of the A5, the 2020 range is modern not only by its name but also its stance. Elegance is long gone with muscle and aggression taking the centre stage. A revisited front bumper and the all-LED headlamps with built-in LED DRLs provide the new units with the much-needed flair. Moving to the rear, while we do not see any significant changes, a new pattern in the LED taillamps has certainly brought along some modernity.
All three body styles, i.e., sedan, station wagon, and Allroad have received the updates and are set to roll on the roads around the globe. Oh wait, there’s another change at the rear. The previously round-shaped exhaust outlets have been ditched in the favour of modern looking horizontally stacked units.
Barring the new software for the infotainment system and new color combinations, the rest of the interior has been carried over from the last-generation model. Talking about the mechanicals on the new 2020 Audi A4 lineup, three mild hybrid powertrains will be offered by the German automaker. Interestingly, the first of the three will be the recently introduced S4 TDI (347 PS) powertrain. Audi will also be incorporating both the front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive in the new lineup.
Apart from the S4 TDI in a mild hybrid configuration, the two other hybrid systems still remain unknown. Furthermore, the other non-hybrid powertrains include a 2.0-litre TDI motor (122 PS), a 1.4-litre TFSI engine (150 PS), and an S4 TFSI mill (354 PS). In the Philippines, we should receive our share of the 2020 Audi A4 line with the 1.4-litre TFSI and 2.0-litre TDI powertrains. However, the Philippine spec 2.0-litre TDI should make 150 PS instead of the 122 PS it makes in other markets.
