2020 Honda Jazz unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show
MANILA: The new generation 2020 Honda Jazz (or Fit in other markets) was one of the first cars to be unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.
The fourth-generation Jazz hatchback will boast a more spacious cabin and seats that tucks away neatly to make more room for luggage and other oddly-shaped cargos. The all-new model is designed to be a “globally-accepted standard” for compact sedans. What is more, the new 2020 Honda Jazz will come in five different variants to suit every budget and lifestyle.
New Jazz variants are as follows -
- Basic: The entry model for the new compact
- Home: Has better trims with matching colors, materials, fabric seats, and leather wheel for “tactile quality”
- Ness: Mid-range variant with a padded instrument panel, water-repellent seats, and a range of color combinations that boasts a sporty feel
- Crosstar: Sporty appearance with a soft-roader theme, and water-repellent interior materials
- Luxe: Leather seats, platinum-style chrome plating on the exterior, and 16-inch wheels as standard
All the five variants of Honda Jazz will come standard with Honda Sensing— Honda’s marketing brand for a suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies to make driving easy and safe. It includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) among others.
Besides safety features, the new Honda compact hatchback will be the first model to be fitted with Honda Connect onboard communications. For an added premium, you can get the Honda Total Care option which allows for smartphone remote control of some vehicle functions, emergency support services, and the ability to call for a security guard when “an abnormal situation occurring to the vehicle is detected.”
In terms of design, the new Honda Jazz improved on driver visibility with its redesigned front pillar coupled with a cross-sectional structure that is strikingly different from the previous generation Jazz. Honda said the new design is better in terms of safety in the event of a collision.
Honda has yet to release the Jazz’s new powertrain but be on the lookout for a hybrid system option—the eHEV two-motor hybrid system, which will also be made available in the new Honda Accord. The Honda eHEV system will be rolled out as the brand’s core hybrid system moving forward that features a high emphasis on electric power over internal-combustion engines.
The new 2020 Honda Jazz will go on sale in February 2020.
