2020 Mazda 2 showcased at Thailand Motor Expo
MANILA: The facelifted version of Mazda 2 hatchback was revealed globally in July this year. Since then, the Philippine market is waiting to get their hands on the updated model. After launching the sedan version last month, the automaker pulled the wraps off Mazda 2 sedan as well hatchback at Thailand Motor Expo recently.
When it comes to the styling updates of new Mazda 2, the model is very much inspired by its elder sibling, the facelifted Mazda 6. On the front, it is adorned with a thicker chrome grille having a new mesh design at the inserts. The lower apron of the model has been modified to adjust a thinner air intake having chrome strips on the borders.
At the rear bumper also, the same strips can be seen. The number plate is placed on the body colored area, and the lower apron of the vehicle now features a smaller black plastic area. Not only this, but new tail light graphics are also added to complement the look. If we exclusively talk about the sedan version, it comes with a more spectacular bumper design having a more extensive chrome trim edged by a set of reflectors.
On the mechanical front, the 2020 Mazda 2 comes in two engine choices. The first option is SkyActiv-G 1.3 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol mill churning out 93 PS of power at 5,800 rpm and 123 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Coming to the second powertrain,
it is SkyActiv-D 1.5 litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder unit producing 105 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 2,500 rpm. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission in both the engines. Speaking of the fuel economy, the petrol engine offers a mileage of 23.3 kmpl, whereas the diesel variant delivers 26.3 kmpl.
Mazda offers five options in the petrol model- 1.3 E, 1.3 C, 1.3 S, 1.3 S Leather, and 1.3 SP, while only two options are offered in diesel model- XD and XDL. 2020 Mazda 2 specs sheet includes 15-inch wheels,
DRLs, fabric seats, a standard head unit with four speakers, navigation function, Mazda Connect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity, leather upholstery, airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, DSC and hill start assist.
