2020 Mitsubishi Triton Athlete unveiled in Thailand

MANILA: A Sportier version of Mitsubishi Triton, the 2020 Athlete, has just been introduced in Thailand.

Locally known as the Mitsubishi Strada, the new Mitsubishi pickup is based on the premium double cabin and comes in two variants: the Triton Athlete PLUS and Triton Athlete 4WD.

In terms of exterior styling, the new 2020 Athlete comes with new blackened front grille, bumper, side steps, and roof for a more aggressive look. The car features step boards on both sides for easy entry and exit. Also, it gets black-out wheels, and heavy two-tone decals with the words “TRITON ATHLETE” to round up the rugged look. The front façade still features the Dynamic Shield flanked with a Bi-LED light system with Projector lamps and LED position lights.

The same theme is carried over inside the cabin of the 2020 Athlete. The seats and part of the gearshift are wrapped in plush leather with the Athlete logo embroidered on the two front seats. The Mitsubishi Triton Athlete also comes with a 6.75-inch infotainment system that’s compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 6-speaker audio system, and a multi-function steering wheel.

In terms of safety and driver-assist features, the new Mitsubishi pickup comes with seven airbags, a front collision mitigation system (FCM), a 360 camera system to support parking, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Under the hood, however, the new Triton Athlete remains unchanged. It still comes with the same 2.4-liter MIVEC Clean Diesel engine that churns out 179 hp of maximum power and 430 Nm of peak torque. The same engine that powers the Mitsubishi Strada here in our country.
