2020 Nissan Serena is here, highly unlikely for the Philippines
MANILA: We so want for Nissan to bring back the Serena to the Philippines but the automaker doesn’t seem to be in any mood to do the needful. Something that makes us even more jealous is that the 2020 Nissan Serena in its newest iteration has come out. And, we won’t be getting our hands on the sumptuous MPV. The rapid growth of the SUV and MPV market in the Philippines led the Japanese automaker to finally take the van out of the Philippine market and we don’t see any U-turn happening.
Anyway, let’s talk about the all-new 2020 Nissan Serena. In its fourth-generation now, the Japanese van boasts a refreshed look and an array of the latest tech. Upfront, the 2020 Nissan Serena features a larger than before V-motion grille that is flanked by a pair of two-tier headlamps. The front bumper has also gone under the hammer and now looks all that more sporty and attractive. Moving to the rear end of the van, we find the all-new Serena wearing a revamped bumper and a new pair of taillights.
While most of the interior of the 2020 Nissan Serena is the same as before, we do see a new instrument panel, intelligent rear-view mirror, third-row auto slide, and hands-free auto sliding rear doors. The customers now also get the option of going for the water-proof seat covers. Under the hood of the 2020 Nissan Serena resides a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four gasoline-fed motor.
The engine makes 147 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 210 Nm. A CVT sends the power to the wheels. There is also an e-Power setup available that comprises of a 1.2-litre inline-three engine, electric motors, and a battery pack. Instead of powering the wheels, the engine here charges the battery pack while the electric motors send the power to the front wheels.
Thanks to the addition of “Intelligent Mobility” equipment on the 2020 Nissan Serena, the van now comes equipped with blind-spot monitoring with collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert, and 360-degree around-view monitoring. Other basic safety features like multiple SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and others are also present on the 2020 Nissan Serena. As we mentioned before, the van won’t be landing on the Philippine shores and all we can do is admire it for as long as we can.
