2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLE Coupé get hybrid power and new MBUX

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz has revised the GLE and GLE Coupe model generation, which was introduced in 2018. This includes the exterior, interior, technology, and equipment. Beginning in July 2023, dealers in Europe will get the revised models.

The entire 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE engine lineup is now electrified. It includes fourth-generation plug-in hybrids as well as mild hybrids with a 48-volt system and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The majority of current models are more powerful than their predecessors. The GLE 400 e 4MATIC's rise of 30 kW is the largest.

Specific capabilities in the Driving Assistance Package have been significantly improved, such as Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, and Traffic Sign Assist. Driver assistance is provided when moving into and out of parallel and perpendicular parking spaces with the Parking Package with 360°camera. The "transparent bonnet" option is another recent addition. This is considerably easier in steep terrain if the off-road drive program is activated because the central display displays a virtual view under the front of the vehicle.

The majority of 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE drivers stick to paved roads or straightforward to moderately challenging off-road terrain. Mercedes-Benz has consequently revised the Off-Road Engineering Package's scope in order to make it far more affordable for the GLE's solely combustion-engined variants. Included are an underride guard and 30 millimeters greater ground clearance when combined with the optional AIRMATIC air suspension.

The exterior of the GLE SUV and GLE Coupé has undergone numerous minute alterations that give them a noticeably more contemporary look. More visual presence is provided by the redesigned front bumper. The radiator grille of the GLE has two horizontal louvers with chrome trim. A horizontal chrome fin has been added to the grille of the outer air intakes.

The 'light flare' in the headlamps is a Mercedes-Benz trademark. While the optional MULTIBEAM LED has four light points, the standard LED High-Performance headlamps only have two light points to go along with the recognizable daytime running light sign. The interior of the tail lights has also been changed by the designers; whereas on the GLE, the light signet is created by two horizontal blocks, it is two bars on the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé.

Every GLE Coupé now comes standard with the AMG Line appearance. The chrome Mercedes-Benz pattern diamond grille, the AMG front apron with chrome trim element, the AMG side sill panels and wheel arch cladding in the vehicle's color, and the AMG rear apron with diffuser-look insert are all parts of this series.

The most recent generation steering wheel with sensor surfaces on the horizontal spokes is new aboard the GLE and GLE Coupé. The driver can control the driver and central displays from the steering wheel by using the touch elements on the right and left. The Dolby Atmos immersive audio experience is now included with the Burmester surround sound system, which is a premium audio system. Mercedes-Benz has thoroughly integrated a number of music streaming services into the MBUX infotainment system with the "Online Music" service. The Burmester surround sound system also includes 13 speakers, 13 distinct amplifier channels, and a system output of 590 watts.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLE Coupé are currently with the second iteration of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system.

As both hardware and software have advanced significantly, the interior of the vehicle becomes even more digital and sophisticated. Various vehicle and comfort functions can be managed on the LCD panels in stunning display views. The driver and center displays have been kept at their original 12.3-inch sizes. A touchscreen can be used to easily and directly control the main display. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now wirelessly accessible.

As for over-the-air updates, a notice shows in MBUX as soon as a new software update for the GLE or GLE Coupé is made available by Mercedes-Benz. In the background, the update is downloaded and set up. The user must then expressly consent to the update's activation once more. Over-the-air upgrades allow for the addition of new features to automobiles that have already been sold.

The GLE SUV and GLE Coupé are now fully electrified thanks to mild hybrids with 48-volt technology, the Integrated Starter Generator, and plug-in hybrids. The fourth generation of plug-in hybrids is the most recent.

The plug-in hybrids provide a system power of up to 280 kW and a system torque of up to 750 Nm and have a permanently excited 100 kW synchronous machine. The majority of daily commutes can be completed entirely on electricity thanks to significantly higher electric ranges of up to 109 kilometers, per WLTP. For the most relevant parts of the route, the upgraded hybrid drive program offers the electric driving option. For instance, the GLE prioritizes electric driving on routes through cities. The plug-in hybrids may now also travel off-road using only electricity thanks to a program called Off-Road drive.
