2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV production now underway

MANILA: Chevrolet has commenced the production of the 2024 electrified Silverado pickup truck.

Per the American carmaker, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado electric vehicle (EV) is built at General Motors’ Factory Zero Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center in Michigan and uses the advanced Ultium Platform that offers a boundary-breaking combination of capability, performance, and versatility, along with advanced technologies that can evolve the vehicle over time.

“Chevrolet has been building trucks for nearly 100 years and understands what customers want and need in a pickup,” Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell said.

“Chevy’s truck leadership combined with our expertise in vehicle electrification has given us an advantage to deliver a revolutionary product. The Silverado EV RST has all the performance and capability of a traditional truck, plus all the benefits of electrification. It is an impressive and important addition to the Chevy truck franchise,” he added.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV pickup truck will be offered in two variants upon launch: a First Edition RST and a fleet-oriented WT model.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV First Edition RST will come with the following:

• Four-wheel steer
• Automatic adaptive air suspension
• Multi-flex midgate that expands the truck’s cargo capability while maintaining seating for rear-row passengers
• Available multi-flex tailgate with power release
• Large, 17-inch-diagonal LCD freeform infotainment screen paired with a neighboring 11-inch-diagonal reconfigurable driver instrument display and a multi-color driver head-up display with a field of view of over 14 inches
• Trailering-capable Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver-assistance technology that allows drivers to travel hands-free on more than 400,000 miles or 643,737.6 kilometers (km) of compatible roads across the United States and Canada

“Our design and engineering teams started from the ground up to create a pickup with impressive performance and capability,” Chevrolet Silverado EV Chief Engineer Kathy Gillespie explained.

“The Silverado EV RST is a long-range, fast-charging electric truck that does all the ‘truck things’ customers want and more. It can tow, haul, and carry passengers comfortably. With 754 horsepower, it also happens to be the most powerful Silverado we’ve ever built,” she added.

On the other hand, the fleet-oriented WT model offers impressive capability to meet the needs of organizations with sustainable transportation goals, including 510 horsepower and 833.82 Newton-meters of torque.

When it comes to range, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV First Edition RST offers approximately 708 km of emissions-free driving while the WT fleet model offers all-electric driving that ranges from 632-724 km.
