31,000 people have already expressed interest in the Honda e
Manila: Ever since the inception of the Honda e concept, the EV has been making headlines around the globe. Recently, the Japanese automobile manufacturer starting accepting interest registrations or shall we say bookings for the EV. To no surprise, around 31,000 people showed their interest in the Japanese EV. Moreover, around 9,000 of the total registrations were from the European continent.
When Honda started accepting these registrations, we finally got to know the colors that the Honda e will be making its way out in and now, we have some information about the battery pack and other mechanical bits of the Honda e. According to Honda, the “e” will be housing a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that is cooled down via water-cooling. The battery pack can be charged from 0% to 80% in a matter of 30 minutes using a DC fast charger.
So, how far can the Honda e travel on a single full charge? Well, the range should be of around over 125 miles (201 km), which should be good enough for daily commutes. With that said, the Honda e is certainly not going to be an EV for longer rides. The charging port for the 35.5 kWh resides at the front.
Moreover, the battery pack has been put under the floor between the axles in order to achieve a low centre of gravity and 50:50 weight distribution. Dwelling more into the mechanicals, the upcoming Honda e will feature an independent suspension system with forged aluminium parts and a rear-wheel-drive. How good is that for the purists?
Honda has been speaking quite a lot about its aim of electrifying all of its offerings by the year 2025 and the “e” seems to be a good stepping stone for the same. While the Honda e will come out in flesh only by the end of 2019, the EV will be put on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that set to transpire in the next month, i.e., July 2019.
