4×4 Magazine’s best value award goes to the Ssangyong Musso, again
MANILA: It is now a known fact that the Ssangyong Musso is one of the better pickup trucks out there in the market. Courtesy of its body-on-frame construction, a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, ample creature comforts,
and a very potent powertrain, the Ssangyong Musso makes for a highly capable pickup truck that is suited for both on- and off-road usage. With that said, it is now for the second time in a row that the Ssangyong Musso has clinched on to the 4×4 Magazine’s Best Value Pick-Up Award.
In London last week, the Ssangyong Musso also gained the WhatVan? 's recommendation. And, the 4×4 Magazine’s Best Value Pick-Up Award came as no surprise. “The SsangYong Musso took this award last year and it’s no surprise to see it here again. It’s an unbeatable amount of truck for your money, with towing and carrying abilities that make it very fit for purpose,” said Alan Kidd, 4×4 Magazine's Editor.
Speaking of the equipment that makes its way to the Ssangyong Musso, there's an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Wi-fi mirroring. Moreover, the range-topping variant comes with a larger 9.2-inch touchscreen with TomTom navigation.
Other features on the pickup include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, 18-inch alloy wheels, LEDs around the fog lights, roof rails, auto-folding ORVMs, rear parking sensors with a reverse camera, cruise control, automatic air conditioning, rain-sensing wipers, and much more.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Musso has won this accolade from 4×4 Magazine, I am especially pleased at how they have captured Musso exactly as we see it – truly capable, practical and good value for money,” said Nick Laird,
SsangYong Motors UK managing director. In terms of mechanicals, the Ssangyong Musso is powered by a 2157 cc 4-cylinder diesel-fed engine that generates 178 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 400 Nm. A six-speed auto and a six-speed manual are the transmission options on offer.
As for safety, the Ssangyong Musso gets dual front SRS airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), speed-sensing door locks, alarm & immobiliser, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Active Roll-over Protection (ARP), and other safety features.
“You get a stack of equipment too, as well as a 7-year/ 150,000-mile warranty that remains the best in the pick-up business. But there is more to the Musso than just being cheap. It has perhaps the most SUV-like interior of any pick-up, thanks to its Rexton underpinnings, and it proves that SsangYong has learned how to make stylish vehicles. It deserves to be taken seriously at any price – especially such a good one,” added Alan Kidd.
