9th PH Electric Vehicle Summit rescheduled to Sept. 23-24
MANILA: The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) has rescheduled the 9th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) to September 23 to 24, 2021.
Initially slated on August 26 to 27, the virtual conference was moved as Metro Manila was placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20 due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the region.
In a statement, EVAP President Edmund Araga said, “EVAP, together with our partners and other stakeholders involved in this much-awaited conference, decided to make this adjustment in support of the national government’s pandemic response program. PEVS is all set to stage its second virtual summit this year, but we are one with the rest of the industry in cooperating with efforts to curtail the further spread of this dreaded coronavirus.”
The two-week “circuit breaker” lockdown in Metro Manila not only aims to control the virus transmission, but also targets to further accelerate the government’s ongoing vaccination program in order to achieve herd immunity.
With the theme “Accelerating the Switch to Electro-Mobility in the Philippines,” the two-day virtual conference aims to serve as a platform for policy dialogue and exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices to help fast-track the adoption of electro-mobility in the country. This is in accordance with the government’s drive toward a low-carbon economy.
The symbolic signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by stakeholders to accelerate the switch to EV and its related technologies will happen on this year’s PEVS. The EV champions of the legislative and executive branches of the government are also expected to deliver their keynote messages. For the first time, the British Embassy Manila will also be joining the event.
The 9th PEVS is organized by EVAP together with the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and Department of Energy (DOE). The event is also made possible by Nissan Philippines in partnership with Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, Power Equipment and Supply, Inc. (PESIN), Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (MI), Delta Electronics International (Singapore) Pte Ltd., and Shell Mobility Philippines.
