9th PIMS: Toyota PH highlights ‘Beyond Zero’ with concept car showcase
Besides the Kayoibako and bZ4X concepts, the Tamaraw was also shown off
MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has showcased its vision for the future of mobility by exhibiting the Kayoibako battery electric vehicle (BEV), bZ4X, and Corolla Cros H2 concept cars at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

At the biennial car show, the concept vehicle, interestingly enough, was fitted with knobby all-terrain Toyo tires, a rear-mounted roof access ladder, and a pair of beefy roof rails.
bZ4X concept
The Toyota bZ4X concept vehicle, meanwhile, is the basis of the Aichi-headquartered company’s first-ever all-electric vehicle offering.
In other markets, the bZ4X reached production car status back in 2022,. The North American version, for example, has the ability to cover up to 380 kilometers in a single full charge of its 71.4 kilowatt-hour battery.
For now, Toyota has kept mum if the production version of the said concept car is coming to the local market, but its sharp looks have definitely wowed car design nerds at the ongoing PIMS.
Corolla Cross H2
Based on the currently sold Corolla Cross, the Corolla Cross H2 concept is a demonstration platform for the car brand’s hydrogen-powered internal combustion system.
With the use of the said gas, the vehicle boasts zero carbon emissions. Its ability to retain good performance despite the use of alternative fuel was also hinted at by the marque.
The hydrogen powertrain technology, after all, was utilized by a unique example of the GR Corolla, which was developed by the Toyota Gazoo Racing team. The hydrogen-powered GR Corolla even entered the Super Taikyu Fuji 24 Hours Race this year.
Tamaraw
Besides the three concept cars, TMP also showcased several pre-production examples of the Tamaraw. Each came dressed up in various configurations, with one inside the Toyota booth sporting an adventure-ready setup reading for towing.
For now, the brand has yet to declare an exact launch date for the Tamaraw’s return to the local market, but it was highlighted with the tagline: “Parating na! (It’s coming!).
