ADB Ave. in Ortigas Center to be closed for road safety upgrades

MANILA: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Ortigas Center Association Incorporated will be upgrading pedestrian crossings and other road safety structures along ADB Avenue in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, starting Saturday, November 23, 2024. 

Specifically, the construction project will seek to upgrade the raised crosswalks located in front of Robinson’s Galleria, in front of the Asian Development Bank and Residences at The Galleon, and the one fronting the Podium and Discovery suites. Raised traffic islands and other road safety infrastructure elements will likewise see upgrades under the aforementioned project. 

Per a Facebook post by the Department of Transportation, the construction works will necessitate temporary lane closures for ADB Avenue from Julia Vargas Avenue to Ortigas Avenue for the duration of the project’s construction period. As such, motorists who regularly pass along the said thorough are advised to plan their travel routes ahead of time. 

To note, the construction project will proceed in several phases and its targeted date of completion is December 2024. According to the government agency’s social media post, the construction will involve the creation of speed tables, which are touted to enhance pedestrian safety as well as accessibility in the area.
