Afeela to showcase updated prototype at 2025 CES

MANILA: Fledging electric vehicle brand Afeela, is set to showcase the latest version of its prototype vehicle at the upcoming 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA. 

For now, not much information was provided by the Sony-Honda mobility-focused joint venture, but it is said to highlight the brand’s latest initiatives. Specifically, the updated prototype will feature additions that reflect Afeela’s concepts of “Autonomy, Augmentation, and Affinity.” 

Additionally, the mobility company disclosed that its first-ever mass-produced electric vehicle is scheduled to launch this year. Deliveries for certain markets are likewise expected to commence in 2026. However, no exact dates were provided for the aforementioned model milestones

For the unaware, Afeela was established back in 2022 as a joint venture between Sony Group Corporation and Honda Motor Corporation Limited. With Sony’s electronics expertise and Honda’s automotive know-how, the relatively new company is aiming to become a company that is able to “redefine the relationship between people and mobility.”

The aforementioned sentiment is shown by the marque’s initial prototype version, which was first introduced at the 2023 CES. 

At a glance, it appears to be a slick-looking sedan sporting a thoroughly aerodynamic shape, as well as a minimalist but luxurious interior. 

As expected, Sony's involvement promises to provide the prototype vehicle with a lot of technology. Some of its notable cutting-edge features include the following: 

• Azure Open Artificial Intelligence (AI) Service
• Active noise cancelling
• Spatial audio system
• Augmented reality navigation
• AI-assisted driving
• Level three autonomous driving
• Snapdragon-powered advanced driver-assist systems

For now, we are not certain which of the said technologies will make it as functional on-board features on the updated prototype, so let us wait until Afeela unveils the car at the upcoming 2025 CES, which is scheduled to kick off from January 7-10, 2025.
