MANILA: The ASEAN Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (AFEVA) is poised to further strengthen its reach by establishing more collaborative ties with other countries in the region.

  • The aforementioned was shared by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) and AFEVA President Edmund Araga during a meeting with Cambodian Ambassador Phan Peuv and Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Flerida Mayo. 

    “As AFEVA continues to lead efforts in promoting the EV industry across ASEAN, it is crucial that we build strong partnerships with all member countries, including Cambodia. We are optimistic that this meeting will pave the way for Cambodia’s active participation in AFECA, which will ultimately contribute to the sustainable growth of the EV industry in the region,” Araga said. 

    As indicated by Araga, one of the ASEAN states set to join AFEVA is Cambodia. During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed potential Cambodian contacts who could represent the said country in the ASEAN EV organization. 

    Through collaborative efforts between AFEVA and countries like Cambodia, the ASEAN region’s forward thrust towards a more sustainable and innovative means of transport could be fostered. The mission of AFEVA, and by extension EVAP, after all, is the promotion and continued proliferation of the EV industry.

    Currently, AFEVA's roster of members includes the likes of EVAP, the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand, the Electric Vehicle Association of Malaysia, the Electric Vehicle Association of Singapore, and Periklindo from Indonesia. 

    Araga likewise shared with Peuv the latest EV industry developments, such as the upcoming 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS). Spearheaded by EVAP, the said event is scheduled to commence on October 24-26, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center in Mall of Asia, Pasay City. 

    Per EVAP, the 12th PEVS will draw the attendance of several AFEVA members. It will also showcase the latest and greatest in EV technologies.
