After Cruze Sedan, 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback unveiled ahead of Detroit Debut
MANILA: General Motors have unveiled the new 2017 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback before its scheduled launch at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. It looks a bit different and re-profiled than the Cruze Sedan trim. Both of them share the same D2XX platform. There are many factors that distinguishes the hatchback from the Sedan type, such as unique roof flowing throughout the rear, newly designed tail lamps, sporty exhaust, and re-profiled bumper and spoiler. However, the wheelbase is same but the cargo space increases on folding the rear seats. The interior part also resembles to the sedan trim. The 2016 Cruze launched during last Detroit Show is also based on the ground style language and it is expected to go on sale by early 2016.
The 2017 Cruze Hatchback comes loaded with some latest connectivity features such as MyLink infotainment system, 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, it also gets some driver assist features like Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Rear Park Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Cruze Hatchback gets new halogen projector-beam headlights assembled with LED daytime running lights. The front fascia also gets Chevrolet's signature 'dual port' design. The company has announced to put the model on sale by late 2016.
According to the automaker, the hatchback trim of Cruze will get latest technology upgrades in comparison to the Sedan variant. The new Cruze hatchback is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged inline-four engine which is capable of knocking out maximum power output of 155 PS and a peak torque of 240 Nm. The engine comes paired to 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic gear box.
