All-new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to make world debut at Twin Cities Auto Show

MANILA: The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) has consolidated its status as the world's best-selling PHEV sport utility vehicle (SUV) since its introduction in 2017 as a 2018 model. The vehicle rapidly gained popularity in the United States, with Saint Paul, Minnesota becoming the country's top-selling Outlander PHEV market.

To celebrate the vehicle's success, Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) will unveil the all-new 2023 Outlander PHEV for the first time at the 2022 Twin Cities Auto Show, which will happen from May 14 to 22 in Minneapolis-Saint Paul. White Bear Mitsubishi, an MMNA dealer partner, is the top-performing Mitsubishi Motors PHEV dealership in the US.

Mitsubishi's all-new PHEV model combines the company's expertise in electrification and Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive systems, as well as a range of innovative technologies.  The 2023 Outlander PHEV retains the gasoline-fueled SUV's smooth ride, spacious and class-above interior with seating for seven in three rows, wide-ranging features, and industry-leading warranty, but adds powerful acceleration and eco-friendly efficiency.

In a statement, MMNA President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Chaffin said, “Since its launch in March 2022, the gasoline version of all-new Outlander has been a homerun, setting sales records monthly even in the face of global supply challenges. When sales begin in the US, the 2023 Outlander PHEV will take its place as the flagship of the Mitsubishi fleet. It is the most advanced and best equipped vehicle we have ever sold, and it is the perfect blend of quiet and clean electric motoring, with the range and ease of refueling of a gasoline-powered vehicle.”

The Outlander PHEV has seven drive modes to accommodate diverse weather and road conditions. Drivers will be able to drive safely and confidently regardless of road conditions.

Mitsubishi Motors' twin-motor 4WD PHEV technology has been upgraded for the all-new Outlander PHEV. The front and rear motors have more power than the predecessor, and the drive battery has been expanded in size, allowing the vehicle to function in electric mode more often. The overall driving range has also been increased, thanks to higher battery capacity and a bigger gas tank.

The launch of the 2023 Outlander PHEV is part of Mitsubishi Motors' commitment to cut carbon emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieve a net-zero carbon footprint by 2050.

The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is set to hit the market in the second half of 2022.

The full lineup of MMNA's award-winning vehicles, including the Outlander, Eclipse Cross, Outlander Sport, and Mirage, will be on display at the White Bear Mitsubishi booth at the 2022 Twin Cities Auto Show.
