An even more beautiful Audi TT RS?

MANILA: The Audi TT did not look bad in the first place, did it? However, a few cherries on top of an already sweet as sugar cake do not make a mess either. That is just what Audi has done with its TT RS.

The super sexy two-door coupe for 2019 will have a much better and appealing appearance than before. And the sharp looks are not the only thing of improvement as the coupe is now even more high-tech.

Michael-Julius Renz, the CEO of Audi Sport GmbH said, “The new TT RS is in absolute peak form. Like a well-trained athlete, it showcases even more prominently how much power lies beneath its muscular outer skin”. The statement is the testament of the Audi TT RS, isn’t it? What’s a beauty that cannot perform? The TT RS is one beauty which thrills you as much as it tempts you.

Looking at the new TT RS, you will be forgiven if you do not notice the updates at first glance. However, the changes are minimal and not just for the sake of an update. The sports car gets a motorsport design inspired front spoiler along with a contrasting grille setup. We say contrasting because while the honeycomb inserts have been dipped in matte black paint, the Singleframe grille surround has been given a glossy finish.

Move to the rear and you will witness a new wing along with oval-shaped dual exhausts and a revamped rear diffuser. The rear wing also gets side winglets which are claimed to provide the car with an improved downforce. Aerodynamic stuff, you know. Turbo Blue, Kyalami Green, and Pulse Orange make up for the three new color options which the Audi TT RS offers.

Equipped with WiFi hotspot connectivity with Audi Connect, voice control, and MMI Navigation is the updated infotainment system inside the new TT RS. You also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument display coupled with a 680 W Bang & Olufsen sound system.

But how are things like under all that glorified beauty? Pretty good, we’d say. The 2019 Audi TT RS is powered by a 2.5-litre TFSI five-pot turbocharged motor producing 400 PS of maximum power at 5850 – 7000 rpm and a peak torque of 480 Nm at 1950 – 5850 rpm.

A seven-speed dual clutch transmission sends the power to all the four wheels via the quattro all-wheel-drive system. While the top speed is limited to 250 kmph (electronically), you can get to a speed of 100 kmph from a standstill in a matter of 3.7 seconds. Audi has started accepting bookings for the 2019 TT RS and the second quarter of 2019 will see the beginning of the sales.
