Anyone can drive the Lamborghini V12 Vision GT
MANILA: Unless you’re some business mogul who earns by the millions, driving a Lamborghini seems impossible. With vehicles such as the Aventador selling for Php 44.5 million or even the Urus, which sells the “cheapest” at Php 12.7 million, most Filipinos can only dream of handling one.
You probably haven’t heard about Lamborghini V12 Vision GT. Stefano Domenicali, Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, unveiled it himself at the Gran Turismo Championships World Finals in Monaco.
Lamborghini has a reputation for creating over-the-top sports cars such as Huracan and the recently-announced Sian. V12 Vision GT is no exception. If you squint your eyes, it almost looks like the Batmobile when viewed from certain angles. It even has a matte black finish, aggressive fenders, small front-end wheels, and larger rear-end wheels.
Like its predecessors, the latest Vision Gran Turismo concept has a fluid design. Too fluid, perhaps, that it’s hard to tell apart door components from the roof. V12 Vision also takes a few design cues from Lamborghini models as it features Y-shape headlights and hexagonal side windows.
Under the hood, the sports car is powered by a hybridized V12 engine, similar to the one found in Lamborghini Sian. The engine, which comes with a 48-volt electric motor, enables V12 Vision GT to produce a combined output of 808 horsepower compared to 819 hp on the Sian.
Anyone can drive this Lamborghini. But if it sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is. V12 Vision won’t be arriving in dealerships, in spite of the full-sized model shown off at Monaco. Instead, you’ll be seeing it virtually on Gran Turismo Sport, a racing video game available on PlayStation 4.
Domenacali had partnered with Kazunori Yamauchi, Creator, and Producer of Gran Turismo Sport, to discuss the highlights of V12 Vision GT.
“We are creating the base for future products targeting the young generation. And we know that games and simulation appeal to young customers, so we see a great connect here with Gran Turismo,” Domenicali explains.
Lamborghini V12 Vision GT is set to debut on Gran Turismo Sport this Spring of 2020. Gran Turismo Sport sells for $19.99 and includes VR content and in-game purchases.
To experience the V12 Vision GT in virtual reality, you will need PlayStation VR and PlayStation Camera.
