Aston Martin takes the cover off the 603 PS Rapide AMR
MANILA: Aston Martin has taken the covers off the high-performance sedan Rapide AMR ahead of the Le Mans 24 that is scheduled to happen on the coming weekend. The sedan was first introduced last year as a concept along with other AMR models at the Geneva Motor Show. The concept had aggressive aero elements and packed powerful mill under the hood.
Andy Palmer, the CEO of Aston Martin said, “the model has enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language that has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes.”
At heart, the Rapide AMR gets the naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine that produces 603PS of max power and 630Nm of peak torque. The standard Rapide S, on the other hand, produces 552PS of power and 630Nm of torque. The larger intake manifolds and greater air flow to the engine account for the increased power along with the new engine, tuned transmission and optimized aerodynamics. As a result, the Rapide AMR clocks a top speed of 330kmph, which makes it 3kmph speedier than the standard Rapide. It accelerates from 0 to 100kph in just 4.2 seconds.
The AMR variant gets three-mode adaptive dampers which make it for its 10mm lower profile than its standard counterpart. Braking is courtesy of the upgraded six-piston 400m front brake and 360mm carbon ceramic brake with four-piston callipers. It utilizes the Vanquish S’s cooling system for brake cooling that comes with modified brake ducts and dust shields.
As far as design is concerned, it looks pretty similar to the concept showcased earlier, massive work done by the developers to take over the styling cues from the concept AMR. You’d notice some extra aerodynamic bodywork that aids in its performance. The bodywork majorly consists of carbon-fiber accents that can be seen on the front splitter, rear diffuser, and the spoiler. The use of carbon fibre is prominent on the new bonnet that comes with large ventilation inlets. The front bumper features two big circular LED lights. A new quad exhaust setup is present at the rear. The sedan rides on the 21-inch wheels.
Inside the cabin, there is a full-length carbon-fiber center console and the seats are covered in Alcantara. What’s fascinating is the embroidered AMR logo on the seats. There are three design schemes available for the customers to choose from including Standard, Silhouette, and Signature.
Only 210 units of the Aston Martin Rapide AMR will be produced, making it a limited edition model just like the DB11 AMR. The sedan is priced at $240,000 (PhP 12,769,680) while the deliveries will begin in the later part of the ongoing year.
