Up front, the e-tron quattro concept is fitted with a new octagonal shaped grille that is an add-on to its already rugged look. Rolling your eyes to a bit sideways, you will see some sharp edgy headlamps that are now wired with the new Matrix laser technology. Audi is developing this new laser tech and is under plans to use the same in all its future productions. The front look is completed by a will sculpted hood that is embossed with sharp contour lines and aggressive bumper. The side profile apart from displaying a jaw dropping design language now gets a new pair of rear-view camera mounted on the side fenders that are destined to replace the ORVM. The rear profile is wrapped with long LED taillights, rear roof spoiler and bold black body cladding resting on the lower bottom.
Inside, ahh! We have just run out of words to praise this beauty. The first word that comes to mind seeing its flat-bottomed steering wheel, dual touch-screen display and fully-designed instrument binnacle is futuristic. Being an electric car, a lithium-ion battery is a must and in the e-tron quattro concept you can find one below the passenger seats. Combined with a capacity of 95 kWh, it is destined to provide a range of 500 km. As far as charging is concerned it can be energized through both AC and DC current. Press release states that a full charge with DC current at a charging column with an output of 150 kW takes just 50 minutes. To make the charging process simpler, the concept car is equipped with Audi Wireless Charging technology for contactless induction charging. A large solar roof provides electricity to the drive system on the sunny days.
Coming to its power front, the car is stuffed with three electric motors, one of them is stationed to drive the front axle and the other two are positioned on the rear side, producing a total output of 453 PS. The boosting function can increase the power output temporarily, with the maximum output of 503 PS and peak torque of 800 Nm. Also, the said power mill provides an all-electric AWD system and the aerodynamic optimizer reduces the drag coefficient to 0.25 Cd. Making it more special is the second-generation MLB platform that is also housed in performance machines like Q5 and Q7.
