Audi releases second edition of exclusive R8 GT sports car

MANILA: Audi Sport GmbH has launched the Audi R8 Coupe V10 GT RWD 12 years after the release of the first Audi R8 GT.

The R8 Coupe V10 GT RWD is powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that produces 602hp and 413lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful rear-wheel drive Audi ever. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with new Torque Rear driving mode that lets the driver select their own level of ESC support.

The seven-stage torque rear can be adjusted through the control knob on the steering wheel. Level 1 allows little slippage, while level 7 allows a lot of slippage. This feature also facilitates a different dapttion as driving skills and road conditions develop on a track.

The new R8 GT can go from 0 to 100kph in 3.4 seconds, and from 0 to 200kph in 10.1 seconds. It reaches a top track speed of 320kph.

Around 20kg were reduced on the new R8 GT, resulting in a total of 1,570kg. It is fitted with 20-inch, 10-spoke wheels combined with high-performance Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires that were designed for road and track use and contributes to weight reduction. Other features that play a key role in reducing weight are the ceramic braking system, R8 bucket seats, carbon fiber reinforced plastic front anti-roll bar, and two coupling rod connections made of red anodized aluminum.

The new R8 GT also comes with exclusive add-on parts to distinguish it from its relatives. There is a black “R8 GT” lettering on the rear and all other emblems are also in black. The Carbon Aerokit in high gloss not only gives distinction, but also delivers better stability and faster cornering speeds. The Carbon Aerokit is composed of front splitter, flics, side skirt covers, cW-elements on the sides of the rear bumper, a diffuser, and a rear wing with gooseneck suspension.

On the inside, the R8 GT is designed in a combination of black and red, including red belts. The floor mats and the R8 bucket seats also include the lettering in black and red. The sequential numbering of the unit is indicated in the middle of the center console next to the gear selector lever, partially matted in the carbon inlay.

Only 333 units of Audi R8 Coupe V10 GT RWD will be produced worldwide.
