Audi Sport customer teams win DTM title with R8 LMS

MANILA: Audi has won its DTM race series' manufacturer's title, primarily due to the outstanding performances of three Audi Sport customer teams.

Audi has now been named the best manufacturer in the DTM for 2022 with the Audi Sport R8 LMS GT3 racecar, following its success in 2004, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2020. The ABT Sportsline, Team Rosberg, and Attempto Racing customer teams all put in outstanding performances at the Hockenheim circuit last weekend, which helped to secure this season's victory.

The DTM title challenge has been sustained by Audi Sport drivers through the final race for the second consecutive year. Audi ultimately came out on top among six manufacturers, taking the top three spots among 34 drivers and 17 teams.

One of the most successful GT3 racecars is the Audi Sport R8 LMS, which has about 90 drivers' titles and more than 100 global championships to its name. Audi Sport has continuously upgraded the racecar to make it even more specifically fitted to the needs of private customer teams in order to sustain its success.

The Audi Sport R8 LMS GT3's aerodynamics have improved in its most recent iteration with a redesigned rear wing that produces downforce more efficiently. Its traction control system, which enables finer tuning, and suspension, which now incorporates four-way adjustable dampers, were both enhanced. The racecar's engine, which is capable of generating up to 585 horsepower depending on the rules of a race series, has a new intake system with better torque characteristics.

With these improvements, Audi Sport customer teams are more than capable of competing in a GT3 racing field with up to 10 brands. The GT World Challenge, which is run in America, Europe, and Australia; the ADAC GT Masters; the DTM; and endurance competitions like the 24 Hours of Spa and Nurburgring are among the motorsport series in which the Audi Sport R8 LMS GT3 participates.

Audi Sport supports customer teams through its global network of service and parts distribution, as well as its technological know-how. Audi Sport always has German consultants on hand during major competitions.

Audi Sport customer teams from all over the world have already won 22 different classes and nine driver's titles this year.
