Audi unveils PHEV station wagon, A6 Avant 55 TFSI e quattro
MANILA: The Avant is Audi's successful line of estates or station wagons.
Now, the Avant is getting a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version via the Audi A6 Avant 55 TFSI e Quattro, which promises versatile performance, low fuel consumption, and a high electric range, The Audi A6 Avant PHEV is equipped with a expansive set of standard features including sport seats, sport suspension, Matrix LED headlights, Audi virtual cockpit, four-zone automatic air conditioning, and S line exterior package. The latest Audi A6 model also has a sporty design and has other unique details such as privacy glazing, black exterior mirrors, black styling package, red brake calipers, and 19-inch wheels.
It integrates a TFSI 2.0-liter engine with a 370Nm rating, and a strong electric motor. It is mated to a seven-speed S Tronic, and features a powerful and continuously available all-wheel drive for an incredibly high traction level and responsive handling.
The drive concept of the Audi PHEV model is intended to enable customers to perform most of their regular driving electrically, with zero emissions. They can select from the three drive modes: EV for the all-electric driving experience, Hold for the conservation of electrical energy at any particular time, and Hybrid for the effective combination of the two mentioned drive types.
In terms of the “Hybrid” mode, a predictive approach ensures optimal performance and maximum potential amount of electric driving. It regulates the drivetrain so that the last phase of the journey before arriving at the desired destination can be performed in all-electric mode. Furthermore, the battery is charged beforehand through the combustion engine whenever possible.
The predictive efficiency assist takes over the excellent planning of every phase of the journey. It also utilizes a great deal of information for this specific purpose, including vehicle sensors like the radar and camera, driving style of the customer, online traffic incidents, and navigation. It plans drive management and determines between freewheeling with the engine disengaged and coasting recovery.
The lithium-ion battery, which is mounted in the back of the vehicle, stores 14.1kWh of energy. It is also incorporated in such a way that the luggage compartment still offers a level and spacious luggage space. As standard, the luggage capacity is 405 liters. This means that even big and bulky items can be conveniently loaded and delivered to the target destination. If the rear seat backrest is folded down, the luggage capacity can reach 1,535 liters.
Using a standard mode three cable, customers can charge the plug-in hybrid with a capacity to a maximum of 7.4 kW on public charging terminals. The lithium-ion battery can be recharged in at least 2.5 hours.
As the Audi A6 plug-in hybrid is on the road, the Audi e-Tron Charging Service offers access to over 140,000 public charging points in 24 countries across Europe. The myAudi app comes with a route planner, which indicates where the terminals are located. Just before they head off to their target areas, customers can utilize the myAudi app to manage pre-entry climate control and charging.
Meanwhile, the air-conditioning system functions in conjunction with a highly effective heat pump, which uses waste heat from the components of the electrical drive.
