Per the carmaker, the Toyota bZ3C is targeting younger Gen Z customers.Per Toyota's Chinese arm, the two EV models have been developed in partnership with Chinese auto firms as part of its multi-pathway approach to achieving carbon neutrality.
Both models were presented as concept cars at last year’s Auto Shanghai. Now, they have been upgraded for mass production and is eyed to be sold in China “within a year.”
“What kind of BEV would bring smiles to the faces of our Chinese customers? Working with our partners in China, this quest led us to the bZ3C and the bZ3X,” Toyota Executive President and Chief Technology Officer Hiroki Nakajima noted.
The Toyota bZ3C was jointly developed in partnership with BYD Toyota EV Technology Company Limited, FAW Toyota Motor Company Limited, and Intelligent Electromobility R&D Center by Toyota.
According to Toyota, the bZ3C was designed around the concept of a “reboot.” The said dynamic — the Japanese carmaker pointed out — has produced a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) with a distinctive style and has features that best suit the younger generation of car buyers.
Meanwhile, the Toyota bZ3X is touted as a family-oriented electric sport utility vehicle-type BEV. It boasts a large interior space based on the concept of providing its owners with a mobile “cozy home.”
The Toyota bZ3X was developed by Toyota, Guangzhou Automobile Group Company Limited, GAC Toyota Motor Company Limited, and Intelligent Electromobility R&D Center by Toyota Company Limited.
Both models are equipped with the latest driver-assistance systems and smart cockpits, delivering safe, comfortable driving alongside new experience value.
In addition, Toyota’s booth at Auto China 2024 showcases the company’s efforts in intelligence, electrification, and diversification. The exhibit also highlights the company's creation of new value through products and services tailored to customer needs.
Toyota’s pavilion at Auto China 2024 also highlighted other notable nameplates like the Land Cruiser Prado hybrid electric vehicle and the rally-bred GR Yaris.
