According to BAIC, its commitment to sustainable mobility is evident in its launch of a series of green products over the past year. These products include the Arcfox models showcased at the 2024 Auto China and the Chinese market version of the Mercedes-Benz EQE.
The Beijing-based automaker has also collaborated with Fujian Mercedes-Benz to achieve carbon neutrality in production. The latter goes along with its 20 national-level green factories. The Chinese auto firm further claims that its new energy models have collectively reduced 10.082 million tons of emissions, equivalent to planting 36.794 million trees.
BAIC attributes all of the achievements mentioned above toward carbon neutrality to its “Blue Plan.” According to the company, this plan has laid a solid foundation for reducing carbon emissions via technological innovation.
Beyond BAIC’s green initiatives, it has also made strides in developing cars with integrated artificial intelligence (AI). By leveraging AI technology, the automotive company is looking into improving user experience by creating vehicles that are “smarter, more energy efficient, and safer.”
Regarding intelligent driving, BAIC has partnered with tech company Huawei to develop a level-3 intelligent driving system capable of providing Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) functionality.
For the unaware, an NOA-capable vehicle can automatically navigate various in-city driving situations, such as lane changes, highway on-ramps and off-ramps, and interchanges.
BAIC is likewise actively exploring means to integrate more collision safety into its products. The carmaker’s latest development in this field is a new steel aluminum hybrid chassis, already applied to the second-generation BJ40 via an integrated cage body combined with an embedded roll cage.
Also notable is the Arcfox chassis, which has a claimed torsional rigidity of 60,000 Newton Meters. The brand has described the latter as a “road tank.”
BAIC sells its products in the Philippine market through United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated. Locally available BAIC cars include the B40 Ragnar, B80 Wagon, X7 Grandeza, X55 Verve, and B60 Beaumont.
